According to Lauren Trifilio, a 2000 Benedictine English Language and Literature graduate, she said that she would encourage students to major in literature because having a strong literature background will demand that someone is well-read and is a strong writer. Most companies would like to hire someone that they know will work hard and has a diverse background.
Benedictine certainly agrees with Trifilio, as it states in its web site, in general, students of the humanities have better long-term prospects of promotion than those whose education is more confined to specific technologies and content. More importantly, these students have the resources to adapt not only to market demands but also to their own changing dreams, needs and perceptions.
