(Sword Combat Position)
There are, in Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu, no fixed positions for combat. Nevertheless sometimes we find ourselves standing in certain common positions from which we need to start a technique or a movement. For these kind of situations, we use to practice some stances that are known as kamae from which we do our techniques. It is very important to remember that those are not fixed positions but transitional ones that we learn just to have a reference to start a fight from in case we find ourselves in such situation. Although sword fighting is not used nowadays, we still practice it as part of our tradition and adapt the techniques so they can be used with walking canes or any other stick.
