Main Characters
Yugi Motou
Yugi is a freshmen at Domino High School. When Yugi was growing up, he was given a shattered Millennium Puzzle, him being told that the person who solves it will gain great power. Yugi is friendly, tries to show people "the heart of the cards" and shows people that there is more Duel Monsters then winning. Yugi in the show has made some great friends.
Yami Yugi
Yami Yugi is the alter ego of Yugi. Yugi, Motou, using the power of the Millennium Puzzle transforms into Yami Yugi. Yami Yugi helps Yugi with dueling, and brings his courage with Yugi to the duels. Yami Yugi is an ancient Pharaoh spirit sealed within the Millennium puzzle, now it is released. Yugi is destined, with the help of Yami Yugi to become the King Of Games!
Tea Gardner
Tea Gardner is best friends with Yugi, Joey, and Tristan. Tea is somewhat the encourager of the group. She encourages Tristan, Yugi, and Joey to never give up when dueling. She is supportive and helps out her friends when they need help the most. Tea's soul card is Magician of Faith, because she encourages never to give up faith, she feels she most relates to that card.
Joey Wheeler
Joey Wheeler, Yugi's best friend and dueling partner, duel together in duelist kingdom. Joey would do anything for his friends, because he knows they would do the same. Joey has a sister named Serenity, who is sadly blind. Yugi and Joey enter the Duelist Kingdom Tournament to win Yugi's Grandpa's soul back, and to get money for Serenity's eye surgery.
Tristan Taylor
Tristan Taylor would do anything for his friends. Though Joey and Tristan get in a lot of fights at times, they always remain friends and are willing to do anything for each other.
Ryou Bakura/Yami Bakura
Ryou Bakura is a friend of Yugi's. They know each other from school. Yugi and Bakura both possess Millennium Items, which makes them share a bond. Different from the spirit of Yugi's Millennium Puzzle, the Millennium Rings Spirit is dark, evil shadow thief. When Bakura is taken over by the spirit of the Millennium ring he seems to have no control, the spirit has one goal: Get all 7 Millennium items to conquer world domination.
Seto Kaiba
Seto Kaiba is one of Yugi's worthy opponent. Seto Kaiba owns the only 3 of the 4 Blue Eyes White Dragon in the world. Determined that no one would ever be able to use a Blue Eyes White Dragon against him, he challenged Yugi's Grandpa to a duel, with high stakes. Yugi's Grandpa lost his Blue Eyes White Dragon in that duel. Seto Kaiba ripped the fourth BEWD up to assure that it could never be used against him. After losing to Yugi, Seto Kaiba duels with heart now, and trusts in the cards. Yugi opened up the heart of the cards to Seto Kaiba. Seto Kaiba is wealthy and CEO of his own Company "KaibaCorp." Seto Kaiba was working on his own duel monsters virtual game, but was sadly turned wrong when his workers double-crossed him. Seto Kaiba has a passion for dueling.
Mai Valentine
Mai Valentine not only has looks, she has dueling skills. Mai is well known for using Harpies to duel with. Mai wouldn't let anyone be her friend, she thought they were just other duelers and duelers can't be friends. Yugi showed her that duelers can be friends and showing her there is more to dueling then just winning.
Marik Istal
The brother of Isis Istal and the owner of the Millennium Rod. Marik is tries to defeat Yugi in a duel so that he many become pharaoh so he can break his family's curse which is to guard the pharaoh's grave forever. Marik is the leader of the Rare Hunters and is able to control peoples minds to get what he wants through the power of the Millennium Rod. The only people who he can't control is people with Millennium items. Also he has a Evil side of himself which comes from his Millennium Item like Bakura.
Duke Delvin
You may think that Duke Delvin is not a main character. Well he isn't now but in future he is going to rejoin the group and he is going to have a crush on Serenity Wheeler. Duke Delvin is the creator of DDM; Dungeon Dice Monsters. Duke planned to make a different style of Duel Monsters, but needed funding for it. When he emailed Maximillion Pegasus about his idea, DDM Maximillion showed interest and decided to help Duke release it. Maximillion is Duke's idol. After Yugi beat Maximillion at Duelist Kingdom, Duke, blinded from seeing how evil Maximillion really is despises Yugi, and tries to prove that he is a cheater and embarrass him in a game of Dungeon Dice Monsters.
Semi Main Characters
Maximillion Pegasus
Maximillion Pegasus shows a dark, evil side to him. Maximillion Pegasus was taken over by evil when Cecelia; his wife died shortly after they were married. Maximillion is determined to capture the Millennium Item holders souls, as a way to bring his love, Cecelia back to life. He is the owner of the Millennium Eye, and at Duelist Kingdom shows only the dark sides of him.
Mokuba Kaiba
Mokuba is Seto's younger brother. Not much is known about the younger brother Mokuba. Mokuba goes to Duelist Kingdom to find his brother. His brother ran off after Yugi first defeated him. Mokuba has little dueling skills. The Kaiba brothers parents died at a young age. Seto and Mokuba have become really attached and would do anything for each other.
Grandpa ( A.K.A. Solomon Motou )
Yugi's Grandpa, he owns a card shop and is an expert in duel monsters. Nothing much is really known about Yugi's parents. Yugi was raised by his Grandpa. His Grandpa gave him the shattered Millennium Puzzle for him to put together, he was told the person who put it together would have great power. Yugi's Grandpa taught Yugi to believe in "the heart of the cards."
Serenity Wheeler
We really don't know much about Serenity Wheeler. Serenity is going blind, She and Joey were separated when there parents divorced. Joey is Serenity's biggest supporter, Serenity loves Joey and is closest to him.
Weevil Underwood
He is a Insect type duelist and was invited to go to the Duelist Kingdom tournament. Weevil threw Yugi's five Exodia pieces over the boat on the boat ride to Duelist Kingdom. Also he was one of the first to get eliminated from the Duelist Kingdom. Weevil is a cheater, in the duel with Joey he paid someone a card to put a Parasite Paracide into Joey's deck which helped give himself an advantage.
Guest Characters
Rebecca Hawkins
She dueled Yugi for the ownership of the rare Blue Eyes White Dragon which she said Grandpa stole from her grandfather, Arthur Hawkins. She technically did win the duel against Yugi but the real winner was Yugi. She is the #1 duelist in America and was taught dueling by her grandfather.
