Miraculously, Rugal managed to survive the explosion of the Black
Noah and organized the King of Fighters Tournament again in 1995.
Iori Yagami, the arch-enemy of Kyo, joined the tournament with Fatal
Fury's Billy Kane & Art of Fighting's Eiji Kisaragi.
The Yagami clan has a pact with the Orochi and had swore to eliminate
the Kusanagi clan.
( Billy, with orders from Geese, was after the Bogard brothers;
while Eiji was after the Kyokugen-ryu Team. )
Perhaps it was destiny, Kyo met Iori in the finals, in which they
had a fierce battle.
Finally, Kyo was declared victorious due to time-out.
Displeased with the referee's decision, Iori took it out on Billy
and Eiji to vent his anger.
Billy and Eji then swore revenge on Iori.
Vice, another of Rugal's personal secretary, then led a mysterious
fighter to compete with the Japan Team.
It was none other than Kyo's father, Saishu Kusanagi, who is alive
but under the control of Rugal.
As Saishu was brainwashed, he was unable to fight at his full potential,
thus he was defeated by Benimaru & Daimon.
Saishu later recovered his senses, but Benimaru & Daimon were
too exhausted to fight any more.
Disgusted by the touching scene of the father-and-son reunion, Rugal
came into the scene to take revenge on Kyo.
It seemed that Rugal managed to harness some of the Orochi power,
but in return, he lost his right hand.
He now has a robotic right-hand as well as an "W"
symbol on his back.
Even with his newfound power, Rugal was unable to defeat Kyo.
Suddenly, the Orochi power within Rugal overwhelmed him and he self-destructed
in a column of evil power.

At the moment of Rugal's demise, Iori's voice could be heard over
a cliff, saying,
"The fool .... only those of the bloodline can harness the power
of the Orochi."
Back in Southtown, Geese received news that Billy has failed to defeat
the Bogard Brothers and discover the secret of the Orochi power.
Confidently, Geese decided that he shall personally jon the KOF
next year to destroy his enemies.
One day, Terry met a blonde fighting some punks in an alley.
She introduced herself as Blue Mary, a bounty hunter who is out
to gather evidence of the criminal activities of Geese Howard.
Attracted by Terry's jovial and outgoing personality, Mary slowly
developed a crush on Terry.

BACK STORY - BLUE MARY
In the bar which Blue Mary often frequents,
a cocktail was named after her.
( The name was given by her dead fiance
Butch. )
Butch and Mary's father were bounty hunters.
In one of their missions, both were shot
to death by Geese's minions.
The jacket that Mary always wore belonged
to Butch - the only item to remind her of their love.
It also turned out that Mary's grandfather
was once Geese's teacher in martial arts, who later died in the hands of
Geese.

Ryuji Yamazaki was a notorious gangster wanted by the Interpol for
trafficking illegal firearms for gangsters all over Japan.
As the situation in Japan was too hot for him, Yamazaki had no choice
but to flee to Hong Kong,
where he had connections with the local gangsters at Kowloon City.
Hot on his trail was Hon Fu, A Hong Kong cop out to arrest him for
the series of crimes he committed in Hong Kong.
Once again, Yamazaki went on the run ..... this time to Southtown.

Some time later, Yamazaki came looking for Geese.
Yamazaki has the last of the Sacred Scrolls and was looking for
the other 2 scrolls which would complete the manual.
He thrashed Geese's two henchmen, Hopper & Ripper, after he
found that Geese wasn't at home.
Yamazaki then kidnapped the son of a retired kick-boxing champion
called Franco Bash, and forced him to defeat the other fighters in Southtown.

FLASHBACK - RYUJI YAMAZAKI
Yamazaki was an orphan who struugled to
survive in the harse conditions in the suburbs in Japan.
On the verge of starvation, Yamazaki met
a gang-leader by the name of Sorimachi.
Sorimachi was a "good" gang-leader who
was strongly opposed to drugs.
However, Sorimachi had dealings with the
Americans from the Naval Base in Okinawa, dealing in illegal firearms.
Sorimachi was like a brother to Yamazaki,
and had many life-and-death experiences together.
Sorimachi often praised Yamazaki for the
great strength of his left arm, which was one thing that Yamazaki is proud
of.
One day, Sorimachi was betrayed and was
made a scapegoat.
Sorimachi chose to take responsibility,
and he was cruelly beaten to death as punishment.
None of the gang members offered to help.
Yamazaki watched helplessly as Sorimachi
gasped his last breath.
Sorimachi's death struck a heavy blow to
Yamazaki.
For 3 days and nights, Yamazaki could not
sleep, weeping over the loss of his blood-brother.
Whenever Yamazaki looks at his left hand,
he is reminded of Sorimachi.
( That's why Yamazaki goes berserk whenever
he uses his left hand. For example, when he executes his Guillotine, Drill
or Shovel. )
After the mourning period was over, Yamazaki
took over as the leader of the gang.
However, Yamazaki was a changed man ; he
became EXTREMELY sadistic & psychotic.
Whenever Yamazaki participates in gang
fights, his opponents would be beaten beyond recognition and then tortured
mercilessly.

Geese who has the scrolls that Yamazaki had been looking for, received
news that Yamazaki is at South Station.
Geese rushed to the scene at once, only to find the Hong Kong cop
Hon Fu being beaten to a pulp.
Geese engaged Yamazaki in a battle for the possession of the Scrolls,
but this time, even Geese had a hard time.
Having mastered the techniques taught in the Sacred Scroll, Yamazaki
proved to be a tough opponent.
Nevertheless, Geese proved to be superior.
Yamazaki was finally defeated and all the scrolls came into the
possession of Geese.
The masterminds turned out to be twin brothers Jin Chonrei &
Jin Chonshu, descendants of the Jin Empire.
The Jin brothers are possessed by the spirits of their ancestors
( high-ranking generals in the army of the Jin Kingdom ),
who had travelled 2200 years in time to reclaim what was rightfully
theirs ( the Sacred Scrolls ).
They believed that once they unite the 3 Scrolls, they will be physically
ressurected in modern time.
The Jin Brothers met Yamazaki in Southtown, and taught him the skills
of the Scrolls, provided that he help them in retrieving the other 2 Scrolls.

Elder brother Jin Chonrei
( Possessed by Kuryu )
|
Younger brother Jin Chonshu
( Possessed by Kairyu )
|
The Jin Brothers presumed that the Scrolls must be in the possession
of Terry ( who was supposed to be the strongest fighter in Southtown ).
With the hope of taking back what that is rightfully theirs, the
Jin brothers challenged the Legendary Wolf.
With the help of Joe, Andy & Mai, Terry managed to fight off
the Jin Brothers, who were inhumanly powerful.
