Ok, no one likes a bunch of rules to bog things down, and I am certainly no exception. However, the reason that many PBeM games die is because of a lack of rules.  Or because of a lack of undertanding of the DM and Players expectations.  So, I will lay out my rules and expectations so that all of the potential characters can read through at the very beginning and decide if this is the right kind of game for them.

1) Play nicely with others.  We're all here to have fun, and it detracts from the fun when one person is intentionally trying to pester or harrass other characters.  There is likely to be in-game tension between characters upon occasion, but we need to work hard to keep the OOC Player relations friendly and fun.

2) Play nicely with the DM.  Rules lawyers need not apply.  I refer back to, we're all here to have fun.  Quoting the D&D bible (aka DM Guide) by chapter and verse (and page number) to prove your point is counter productive.  Since this is a PBeM game, on occasion the DM needs to make some modifications or home-rulings, and in all instances the DM in-game rulings outwiegh anything it says in the DM Guide.  I go out of my way to be fair, and make sure that everyone has fun, and sometimes the rules get bent (or ignored) alittle.
3) Post Regularly.  Another reason that many PBeM games die is because people lose interest.  I really want to make this game into a fairly fast paced game.  I would like for everyone to post at least every other day.  I would prefer if everyone posted about every day, but at minimum every other day would be appreciated.  I will give everyone time to announce their character's intended actions, but if the second day has come and gone and we haven't seen anything then we'll move on and assume that your character is just hanging out for now.  Of course, if you are going on vacation or something, just let me know.

4) Post quality messages.  One liners are typically not acceptable.  Put some thought and feeling into your character and your posting.  Proper spelling and grammar should be used.  Ok, I'm not an english major and on occasion we all mispell something.  But internet-slang such as pwnd, w00t, uBeR, and the like are all inappropriate.

5) Have fun!
