KAC FOOTBALL 2003 NFL MOCK DRAFT

FIRST ROUND - UPDATED AM 4/26/03

Cincinnati Carson Palmer QB USC Signed, sealed, and delivered.
Detroit Charles Rogers WR Michigan St. Don't look for Lions to trade down.
Houston Andre Johnson WR Miami Receiver the #1 need here
NY Jets Dewayne Robertson DT Kentucky Team changes, but not the player
Dallas Terence Newman CB Kansas St. A team wanting Leftwich could trade down here.
Arizona Terrell Suggs DE Arizona St. Stock has dropped, but won't get past home team
Minnesota Bryon Leftwich QB Marshall I have Ravens trading up to make this pick. If not, it could be Marcus Trufant.
Jacksonville Kyle Boller QB California Another team interested in Trufant as well.
Carolina Jordan Gross OT Utah Would have to consider Boller if he gets by J-ville, but Jordan is a near consensus pick among mock drafts.
Baltimore Marcus Trufant CB Washingon St. Per my #7 selection, this will be Vikings after they trade down.
Seattle Kevin Williams DE Oklahoma St. Seahawks seem to have become set on Williams in recent days.
St. Louis Boss Bailey ILB Georgia :Looks like Trufant will not fall this far, but Rams will be just as happy with Boss.
Chicago Jimmy Kennedy DT Penn St. Trading down pays off here as Bears as Kennedy free-falls through no fault of his own.
New England Jonathan Sullivan DT Georgia. Sounds like a good fit here.
San Diego William Joseph DT Miami Still have a feeling about Kwame Harris, who's dropped on some boards.
Kansas City Chris Kelsey DE Miami Chiefs get skittish on McDougle after off-field incident, and go in their backyard instead.
New Orleans Jermome McDougle DE Nebraska And Saints say thank you much.
New Orleans Kwame Harris OT Tennessee Nice replacement for departed Kyle Turley
New England Eric Steinbach G Iowa Can play guard or tackle.
Denver Michael Haynes DE Penn St. Workout numbers not that impressive, but knows how to play.
Cleveland Wayne Hunter OG Hawaii Browns need someone to open holes for William Green, and Hunter is stronger than anyone coming out at the position. Hunters stock soaring like no one else thanks to his 36-37 225-lb press performances.
Chicago Kelley Washington WR Tennessee Not a huge need, but team could use stretch-the-field receiver.
Buffalo Michael Haynes DE Penn St. Yet another team that needs D-line help.
Indianapolis Troy Polamalu SS USC 4.35, a 43½ vertical leap and a 600-lb squat. Dungy just found his next John Lynch.
NY Giants Ty Warren DE Texas A&M Another team in need of D-line help.
San Francisco Tyrone Calico WR Middle Tennesse St. Wouldn't be the first receiver they grabbed out of that state
Pittsburgh Andre Woolfork CB Oklahoma Steelers need D-backs period. QB such as Dave Ragone also a possibility.
Tennessee Justin Fargas RB USC Many think the Titans will go for Eddie George clone Larry Johnson. However, Fargas could provide an exciting change of pace while learning on the job from Eddie
Green Bay Rex Grossman QB Florida It's possible Boller could free-fall to this spot, or at least enough so Pack don't have to trade up too far. E.J Henderson the other possibility.
Philadelphia Kelley Washington WR Penn St. Bryant Johnson or a tight end also possible.
Oakland Jeff Faine C Notre Dame Al Davis has always made the center position a priority, so look for Faine to be selected unless the team thinks Barret Robbins can come back or if they think backup Adam Treu can do the job. Middle Tennesse St. receiver Tyrone Calico also a possibility to refresh an aging receiving corps.
Oakland Willis McGahee RB Miami A classic Raider reach pick who would grow into replacing Charlie Garner a year or two down the road.

SECOND ROUND

Cincinnati Kenny Peterson DE Ohio St. Team goes just up the road for D-line help.
Detroit Lee Suggs RB Virginia Tech Team can either go for an every down back in Larry Johnson or go for Suggs, who will give fans occasional glimpses of what Barry Sanders once was.
Chicago Chris Simms QB Texas With Chris Simms in the fold, Bears can address this position with someone who will be polished and ready two years down the road. Simms should fit that bill.
Houston Larry Johnson RB Penn St. Or whomevers left between LJ, Suggs, or Justin Fargas
Arizona Dave Ragone QB Louisville Zona may want to trade up a little to secure one of the Big Six QBs, it is a long dropoff to #7 at that position.
Dallas George Foster OT Georgia Running back just as pressing a need as the O-line, but Parcells compatable, between the tackle backs such as Artose Pinner and/or Cecil Sapp will be available in Round 3.
Jacksonville Anquan Boldin WR Florida St. Fellow Nole receiver Talman Gardner is also a possibility, as Jags desperately need a #2 receiver.
Minnesota Tyler Brayton DE Minnesota Brayton and Chris Hovan on the same line, is that psycho enough for you???
Baltimore Taylor Jacobs WR Florida Perfect need filled here
Seattle E.J Henderson ILB Maryland Would be fantastic for Hawks if he falls here.
St. Louis Jason Witten TE Tennessee Receiver a larger need, but Witten would be a good value.
Washington Brandon Lloyd WR Illinois Spurrier can't get enough receivers.
Carolina Onterrio Smith RB Oregon Team selected DeShaun Foster last year, but is now major question mark after knee surgery.
San Diego DeWayne White DE Louisville Not a huge need area, but would be good value here
Kansas City Rashaen Mathis CB Bethune-Cookman Dennis Weathersby stock falls after scary off-field incident.
Buffalo Mike Doss SS Ohio St. Another late first round possibility. Polamalu has surpassed him in most circles though.
Miami Jon Stinchcomb OT Miami Slotted him perfectly.
New England Chris Brown RB Colorado Need pick here, as Antowain Smith has about a year left in the tank.
Denver Ken Hamlin FS Arkansas He hits in the Steve Atwater mode. Wonder how many fines he and Kenoy Kennedy would combine for in a given year.
Cleveland Vince Manuwai OG Hawaii That would be back-to-back Hawaii linemen in the first two rounds. It was Vince that was a sure file first-rounder just a couple months ago. Butch Davis could opt for the nastiness of Torrin Tucker instead.
NY Jets Gerald Hayes OLB Pittsburgh Mo Lewis at the end of the line.
New Orleans Terry Pierce ILB Kansas St. Linebacker is the pick here, and Pierce is a borderline first-rounder in some circles.
Atlanta Eugene Wilson CB Illinois Nebraska's DeJuan Gross another possibility.
NY Giants Nick Eason DT Clemson Could go higher if not for injury concerns.
San Francisco Tully Banta-Cain DE California Niners need front four help, and go into their backyard to grab this fast-riser.
Indianapolis Rien Long DT Washington St. Durability concerns have dropped Long from being a potential top-ten overall pick.
Pittsburgh Musa Smith RB Georgia A minor reach from a team with backfield concerns.
Tennessee Torin Tucker OG Southern Mississippi Wisconsin C-G Al Johnson also an option.
Philadelphia Kindal Moorehead DE Alabama Quickly rising into the top-ten amond D-ends.
Philadelphia Dallas Clark TE Iowa Coach Andy Reid loves his tight ends, and Dallas is an overachiever in the mode of current TE Chad Lewis.
Oakland Jarret Johnson DT Alabama Is compared to Vikings Chris Hovan, sounds like a Raider to me.
Tampa Bay Nick Barnett OLB Oregon St. Small, but rising late in weak backer year.
