2005 3-ROUND MOCK DRAFT

(as of 4/22/05)

1. 1. San Francisco Alex Smith (QB - Utah) Mike Nolan could be playing poker face however and end up taking Aaron Rodgers.

2. Minnesota (projected trade w/Miami) - Braylon Edwards (WR - Michigan) It appears certain that the Vikings will trade up, the only question is whether it will be with the second or third pick.

3. Tampa Bay (projected trade w/Cleveland) Mike Williams (WR - USC) Bucs have leaned towards the home town product in recent days.

4. Chicago Ronnie Brown (RB - Auburn) Bears lose out on the big time receivers but come away handsomely with the best running back in the draft.

5. Miami (projected trades w/Minnesota, Cleveland) Cadillac Williams (RB Auburn) Dolphins trade back up when Cleveland trades down a second time. Or Miami could stay at #2 and take Ronnie Brown. Whatever the case the Dolphins will rinse their hands of Ricky Williams once and for all by Saturday.

6. Tennessee Antrel Rolle (CB Miami) Titans are going to have to trade up if they want that Norm Chow/Mike Williams reunion.

7. Cleveland (projected trades w/Tampa Bay, Miami) Shawne Merriman (DE/OLB Maryland) Browns trade down not once, but twice - and still get the top man on their board.

8. Arizona Aaron Rodgers (QB - California) As Kurt Warner again becomes the NFL's answer to Benedict XVI. However, there's also nothing on the Travis Henry front, so Cedric Benson is also a possibility. Draft gets very interesting here.

9 Washington Troy Williamson (WR - South Carolina) Yes, his value's gone up that much.

10. Detroit Derrick Johnson (OLB Texas) Alex Smith could even fall here, as the Lions are far from happy with Joey Harrington. If Smith is gone, then the Lions jump all over the safest defensive player overall.

11. Dallas DeMarcus Ware (DE/OLB Troy) The Cowboys would love to trade up a couple slots and take Derrick Johnson. If not the Cowboys will work to fix their pass rush by nabbing the fast rising Ware.

12. San Diego Marcus Spears (DE LSU) Value has made a big comeback over the last month.

13. Houston Cedric Benson Unless they're worried about him going at #8, no real reason to even trade up.

14. Carolina Alex Barron (OT - Florida St.) Panthers would jump all over Troy Williamson if San Diego doesn't.

15. Kansas City Carlos Rogers (DB - Auburn) Chiefs not looking for a return guy, so Rogers pure cover skills get the nod over Justin Miller and Pac-Man Jones.

16. New Orleans Travis Johnson (DT - Florida St.) Might be a reach, but defensive tackle a pressing need.

17. Cincinnati Adam Jones (CB West Virginia) Slipping on draft boards as teams discover on a closer look that Pac-Man is the second coming of Terrell Buckley.

18. Miami (projected trade w/Minnesota) Khalif Barnes (OT Washington) Dolphins are expected to get the #7 and #18 picks from Minnesota.

19. St Louis Matt Roth (DE Iowa) Like Roth better than a few of the other DEs projected in this slot.

20. Dallas Mark Clayton (WR Oklahoma) Sooners always seemed to find their way into Dallas.

21. Jacksonville Fabian Washington (CB Nebraska) Justin Miller among the other corners that will be considered, but Fabian has the most upside with his 4.3 speed.

22. Baltimore Roddy White (WR UAB) Roddy gets the nod over a pair of Georgia receivers.

23. Seattle Dan Cody (DE Oklahoma) Some have him going much higher, but I think teams are looking at him as a psych risk.

24. Green Bay Thomas Davis (S Georgia) Packers can save on decal expenses here, Thomas can just slap the G off his Georgia helmet.

25. Washington Jason Campbell (QB - Auburn) Idolizes Donovan McNabb, and may now get to play in the same division as the Skins appear seriously interested.

26. Oakland Shaun Cody (DE/DT USC) Not only does the team desperately need pass rush help, but Cody sounds like the perfect Raider!!!

27. Atlanta David Pollack (DE - Georgia) High-motor player gets to stay at home.

28. San Diego Erasmus James (DE) Falling clear out of the first round on many boards.

29. Indianapolis Channing Crowder (ILB Florida) Crowder has some off-the-field issues, but is by far will be the most valuable inside backer available at this point.

30. Pittsburgh Heath Miller (TE Virginia) The Steelers have never traditionally featured the tight end, but Miller would be a coup if available this late.

31. Philadelphia Matt Jones (WR/TE Arkansas) Converted QB one of the biggest stories of this draft, if Heath Miller is off the board then look for TE-crazy Andy Reid to make Jones his project sitting behind L.J. Smith.

32. New England Odell Thurman (ILB Georgia) Its rare to see such a consensus among mocks at the end of the first round, but Thurman seems a perfect fit here a talented but controversial player whom the Patriots will find a way to fit within their system.

SECOND ROUND

33. San Francisco Jammal Brown (OT Oklahoma) The focus for many teams shifts to the O-line in Round 2.

34. Cleveland C.J. Mosley (DT Missouri) But the Browns continue to focus on defense.

35. Philadelphia Jerome Mathis (WR Hampton) Donovan McNabb is going to have some new weapons after this draft.

36. Tampa Bay Adrian McPherson (QB - Florida St.) One of the true wild cards of the draft, Arena League coach is trying to sell McPherson onto his brother. Don't know if staying in Florida would be the right thing for him though.

37. Tennessee Reggie Brown (WR - Georgia) That's if they don't go receiver in Round 1.

38. Oakland Daryl Blackstock (ILB Virginia) Is mid first-round on some boards.

39. Chicago Elton Brown (OG Virginia) But this Cav has plummeted.

40. New Orleans Anttaj Hawthorne (DT Wisconsin) Another whose stock has fallen.

41. Detroit Alex Smith (TE Stanford) Made a recent visit into Lions camp.

42. Dallas Corey Webster (CB - LSU) Cowboys need help on the corner and someone should be available.

43. NY Giants Ernest Shazor (SS Michigan) A receiver could also go here.

44. Arizona Kevin Burnett (ILB Tennessee) Some think a quarterback could go here.

45. Carolina Jason Brown (C North Carolina) Has emerged as the best center on the board.

46. Kansas City Luis Castillo (DT Northwestern) Value has gone down since positive steroid test.

47. NY Jets Marlin Jackson (CB Michigan) If interested in a return man as well, Justin Miller could be the pick.

48. Cincinnati Brodney Pool (S - Oklahoma) Makes the first round on some mocks.

49. Minnesota - Justin Miller (CB Clemson) As Gil Brandt said, Miller cost himself a lot of money getting himself into trouble last weekend.

50. St. Louis - David Bass (OG Michigan) Good line value at this point.

51. Green Bay - Charlie Frye (QB Akron) Packers will probably take a QB with one of two second round picks - although Andrew Walter in Round 3 might be better.

52. Jacksonville Barrett Ruud (LB - Nebraska) Safety another possibility with Donovin Darius probably out the door out the door.

53. Baltimore Fred Gibson (WR Georgia) It would be no surprise if the Ravens take two receivers early.

54. Seattle Adam Terry (OT Syracuse) One of the more impressive OT prospects.

55. Buffalo Michael Munoz (OT Tennessee) Munoz may slip into Round 3.

56. Denver Chris Kemoeatu (OG Utah) Just sounds like a Bronco-type.

57. NY Jets Justin Tuck (DE Notre Dame) 57 picks before a domer goes, how the mighty have fallen.

58. Green Bay Chris Canty (DE Virginia) Should help shore up the run D among other things.

59. Atlanta Terrence Murphy (WR Texas A&M) Sleeper receiving prospect.

60. Indianapolis Antonio Perkins (CB Oklahoma) Colts should be able to tap into the deep secondary pool.

61. San Diego Jonathan Babineaux (DT Iowa) Chargers need to put pressure on the D-line.

62. Pittsburgh Eric Shelton (RB Louisville) Built much along the lines of Jerome Bettis.

63. Philadelphia Rian Wallace (ILB Temple) Eagles should know local product well.

64. New England Brandon Browner (CB Oregon St.) A steal if still available.

THIRD ROUND

65. San Francisco Bryant McFadden (CB Florida St.)
66. St. Louis Jeremy Parquet (OT Southern Miss)
67. Cleveland Ciatrick Fason (RB Florida)
68. Tennessee Logan Mankins (OG Fresno St.)
69. Oakland Vincent Jackson (WR/TE Northern Colorado)
70. Miami Atiyyah Ellison (DT Missouri)
71. Tampa Bay J.J. Arrington (RB California)
72. Detroit Marcus Johnson (OT Mississippi)
73. Houston Mark Bradley (WR Oklahoma)
74. NY Giants Mike Nugent (K Ohio St.)
75. Arizona Jonathan Babineaux (DT Iowa)
76. Denver Stanley Wilson (CB Stanford)
77. Philadelphia Vernand Morency (RB Oklahoma St.)
78. Oakland Jovan Haye (DE Vanderbilt)
79. Carolina Roscoe Parrish (WR Miami)
80. Minnesota Eric Green (CB Virginia Tech)
81. St. Louis Josh Bullocks (S Nebraska)
82. New Orleans Craphonso Thorpe (WR Florida St.)

84. Baltimore Andrew Walter (QB Arizona St.)
85. Seattle Ryan Moats (RB Louisiana Tech)
86. Buffalo Marion Barber (RB Minnesota)
87. Jacksonville Kirk Morrison (LB San Diego St.)
88. NY Jets Stanford Routt (CB Houston)
89. Green Bay Alfred Fincher (LB Connecticut)
90. Atlanta Darrent Williams (CB Oklahoma St.)
91. Tampa Bay Adam Snyder (OG Oregon)
92. Indianapolis Anthony Bryant (DT Alabama)
93. Pittsburgh Courtney Roby (WR Indiana)

98. Seattle Eric Moore (DE Florida St.)
99. Kansas City Ronald Bartell (CB Howard)
100. New England Craig Bragg (WR UCLA)
101. Denver Jim Davis (DE Virginia Tech)
