  Console

To get started in the multiplayer gaming, first set the game up with game console.  To do this create a shortcut for the game as follows:

- C:\Sierra\Gunman\gunman.exe -dev -console -numericping

C represents the hard drive that the game is stored on and numericping will display numeric ping and not just the graphic green dots.  When in a game, use the ~ key to pull down console to enter commands or see what has occurred in the game.

Weapons

The shotgun is the first weapon that I go for when playing.  Set to 4 shot then choose they style of preference.  If new at the game use "shotgun" settings as it give a wider pattern of shot.  As  experience is gained in the game change to "rifle" settings for greater concentration of the shot causing more damage.  The shotty jump is a great tool for maneuvering around the maps and getting to higher places like on top of crates.  To jump, set shotgun to four shot rifle, shoot the ground and jump up at the same time.  In some cases, there may be a need to crouch at the peak of the jump to get to a top of an object.

The sniper is the one that takes the most practice to master.  It can cause a great deal of damage is used correctly.  When using the sniper, use the mouse scroll button to zoom out to obtain a larger view of the area.

Using the default key of "Q" and switching from shotgun to sniper will be a winning combinations.  The "Q" key will switch back to the previous weapon so make sure to set up the two weapons correctly.

The mule (or rocket) and chemgun will cause damage even if you don't hit the target.  There are multiple settings for each weapon so experiment to find what works best for your gaming style.  The only issue with these to weapons is that more skilled players get excited when playing against people that only use these to battle so be prepared if these are your choice.  To balance game play, I think they are OK if pings are uneven or playing skills are not equal.

The beamgun also has multiple settings and going over each would be a waste of space.  In brief, there are two that I see being used most.  The tazer will cause quick damage only good for very short range.  When set to ball, it will shoot a energy ball that radiates mini damage balls that seek out the enemy.  It is easy to avoid if you see it coming but will cause so good damage if unexpected.  The down side is it is very slow, it can be evaded.

If all else fails and nothing else is available for quick access go ahead and use the mingun.  Make sure to right-click the mouse for faster firing.  Good luck with that one.

Health

A tip I was giving along time ago which still hold true today.  Keep your health and armor at 100%.  The key is learning the maps and where these items are in relationship to your locations at all times during play.

Practice

Creating a LAN game will help to understand the placement of weapons, health and armor for a particular map.  The process of setting up a LAN game is the same as a server on the internet, just select LAN instead and practice.

Finally

This is a shoot-em-up game.  People are going to shoot at you and you are going to lose sometimes.  I leave this with a quote from a fellow clan member when asked for some tips on multiplayer strategies,

Don't talk shit, don't cheat and most important....Have Fun!
