Mid-Atlantic Vacation Blog
![]() No, that is actually a house we saw on Friday as we were leaving the Assateague Island area. We got home shortly after midnight and our house was fine and our animals were happy to see us (as happy as they can show, anyway), but not as happy as we were to see them. Anyway, it is very very late, and I just wanted to let anyone who might read this on Sunday know that we were safely home. Therefore, the rest of the pictures and story of Saturday will be delayed, but I will work on the conclusion of the blog tomorrow morning.
While I can't say for sure that we drove through mountains, we had plenty of elevation changes at the beginning of our trip, and nestled in the "mountains" were a couple of old towns like this: ![]() We had a nice drive on our journey through Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia (again), and Ohio. Just before we made it to Cincinnati, we stopped at the Jeffersonville Prime Outlets. Brooke visited the Eddie Bauer store while I found a store suited a little more to my tastes: ![]() I resisted the temptation of the wall of Goldfish crackers, and we headed to Cincinnati to watch the Reds play the Arizona Diamondbacks. The game took a few innings to get going, but the Reds started their first rally by having two runners steal bases at the same time. Of course, I was trying to get pictures of the steamboat going by in the background when that happened: ![]() Both of those runners would eventually score, and the Reds would also get a two-run home run and go ahead 4-1, but to keep the game from getting dull, they let Arizona tie the game 4-4 in the top of the eighth inning. In the bottom of the eighth, the Reds Brandon Phillips would advance to second base on a fly ball: ![]() and then score when the next batter got a hit. The following runner, Scott Hatteberg, was greeted much more rudely when he got to home plate: ![]() Anyway, the Reds held on for a 5-4 victory: ![]() Once we got out of traffic, we had a relatively uneventful trip home, arriving at about 12:15, and thus our journey is concluded. On Sunday, we are looking forward to a day of laundry, lawn-mowing, green bean-picking, going through the 6.5 gigabytes of pictures we took, and most importantly, sitting. I hope you've enjoyed reading about our adventures as much as I've enjoyed writing about them, but now it's time to work on the official slide show video! Click here for the first day's entry.
