Day 2 : 28/09/2001 ==>Mt. Rainier Natl. Park.
We had to come together at the hotel lobby at 7.30 am to get as early as possible to Mt. Rainier Natl. Park. The first person I saw there was Sarah(English nurse), we talked a bit and then there was another girl. She just arrived late last night and she introduced herself as Orsi(Hungarian). We decided to get some breakfast and a lot of coffee for Sarah. She really digged coffee, as I would learn in the next 14 days. Soon everyone else came to the lobby and to the restaurant for breakfast. I met with all of them and said hello. We would have much more time to get to know each other later in the ride towards Mt. Rainier Natl. Park. After a few minutes the trekleader James(only American) came in. I had to sign some papers and then it was time to load up the van. We all went out and started to load up. Outside James told us also what he expected from us in the next couple of days and he also explained us the route we were going to follow towards Mt. Rainier Natl. Park.
Arrived at Mt. Rainier Natl. Park we set up camp. Another James(English) asked me if I would be his tentmate for this trip. I said it was ok and we then picked out our tent for the next 14 days. He picked "Grand Canyon" and I said ok. James(trekleader) showed us how easy it was to put up our tent and then it was up to us to imitate him as best as possible. |
