So here we go :
Day 1 : 27/09/2000 ==> Flight to Seattle
After flying for about 13 hours, with a stop-over in New York, I arrived at Tacoma Airport. I had a little problem finding the right baggageclaim-area, there were 15 of them. After looking at all of them I managed to get my baggage. Now I had to find a phone and call the hotel. This was really easy to find, there are great messageboards with all the hotels on it and a corresponding number. After dialing the number and saying where I was at the Airport, a shuttle-van picked me up. About 20 min. later we arrived at the Holiday Inn-Boeing Field Hotel.
I checked in and went to my room to settle in. My roommate was already there because I could see his baggage in the corner of the room. But he was in the restaurant talking with his fellow travellers with whom he just got back from a Trek to Canada, so he told me later when he arrived at the room.
Normally we had a group meeting in the restaurant of the hotel at 8.30 pm but since I arrived at the airport at 8.15 pm I missed the dinner and the talk with our Trekleader.
But I still went to the restaurant and there I saw a few of my fellow trekkers. I introduced myself and they told me their names and where they came from. There I learned that there was another Belgian coming with us. We talked a bit and after a while most of us decided that it was already quite late. So we went to our rooms. |
