In the afternoon we drove to Monument Valley.  We stopped just outside the Park to load our overnight stuff in the truck of our Navajo guides.  We went with another jeep of the Navajo on a jeeptour of Monument Valley.
On the road towards the Park I nearly lost my hat because of the wind.  Once inside Monument Valley the drive didn't get any smoother, we had to pass some very difficult sandy and bumpy sections.  We  stopped at John Ford Point to take a few snapshots.   Drove past some of the amazing 'monuments' of which our guides told us the Navajo names like : the Elephant, East and West Mittens, Totem Pole and the Three Sisters.  Drove also past some arches like Eye to the Sky and past a movie crew shooting a commercial.

Then we had to walk for two hours to reach our destination : Hunts Mesa.  First over some sand dunes and then over red slickrock for some rope-ladder climbing to finally reach the top of the Mesa.  There we was on the edge overlooking Monument Valley.  We saw a sandstorm developing at the bottom of the valley.  While our guides set up camp and the traditional tipi we had a little rainshower but thanks to the plastic bags Genevieve gave us we stayed quite dry.  After half an hour or so we could warm ourselves at the campfire.  The guides and Genevieve cooked us fried bread Indian style for dinner with beans and salad.  Some of the girls tried it out too.  It looked easy but I think it's quite difficult.
