| Social studies is what binds us together as people. Connecting students to the physical and social community provides an excellent learning opportunity. Studing what happened where we stand or hearing stories from the past that our grandparents tell make social studies real. |
| "History" was written on the board and students immediately started dissecting the word to get to the root of its meaning. This was the start of the unit inwhich we worked with senoir citizens to learn about the past from these living historians. |
