Official website mourns the demise of James:
Laurie Russinko, designer and webmaster
of the Official James Website, spoke briefly to One Fan Clapping following James
performance at V2000 at Weston Park. She
explained that she was a big fan of James Dean, the actor who was tragically
killed in a car crash after starring in only three films, and that she was sorry
about his death because she felt he had so much ability and that he would have
been a major force in Hollywood for many years.
James Dean was not, as far as we know, the namesake for the band James,
although several members of the band may have seen his films and even enjoyed
them.
James fan detained by authorities after riot at European festival:
A James fan was deported from Belgium after a riot during Euro 2000, the European festival of football. The fan was caught up in a mass arrest, although later the fan was exonerated and had no charges pressed . He was wearing a "Stutter"- t-shirt but it is felt this had no bearing on him being detained.
James Live tour details : Unreleased material aired:
If you would like details of any of James previous tours you can go to http://www.jamestheband.com. At some of these gigs material was played that is as yet unreleased on official releases by the band . We are unsure if these tracks will ever be committed to such a release and no information is available to indicate that they will ever be bundled into a collectors edition available only through mail order or through the band's official website.
Stephen Patrick Morrissey, former frontman of The Smiths and big fan of James during the mid 80`s probably talks about James when asked during interviews about bands that supported The Smiths, or bands that The Smiths have covered songs by. In fact the list of these is very small and would also only include The Jam, although Morrissey did cover a song by Suede during his ongoing solo career, although it is entirely plausible that Morrissey does not like to talk about The Smiths, and possibly prefers to talk about his solo material in interviews with magazines like Q and FHM.
No truth in James / Stone Roses appearances:
There does not seem much likelihood of James and The Stone Roses appearing together in the future , as The Stone Roses split up several years ago, and do not look like patching it up. Ian Brown has been promoting his solo career, whilst John Squire has been busy with other things. If The Stone Roses were to reform for a spectacular one-off show, there is no reason to link James with such an event, although it is entirely reasonable to assume that a credit card hotline would be announced on Radio 1 and through the NME to allow fans to purchase tickets, although a booking fee would probably be extra and a maximum " 4 tickets per caller" rule would be enforced. If James were not supporting, another band would probably be on the bill.
Tim Booth responsible for global warming:
It has been brought to the attention of One Fan Clapping that Tim Booth, lead singer for the band James, may have at some point in his life used aerosol sprays containing CFCs, the chemicals responsible for causing global warming. Furthermore, it is not known if Mr. Booth has also consumed food from styrofoam containers, another substance known to contain CFCs, although it remains a distinct possibility. To make matters worse, we have it on good authority that Mr. Booth may, on occasion, discard non-recyclable materials, thereby leading to a drain on global resources and an ever-increasing rubbish disposal problem.
