Have a look at a few pictures and then guess where it is.
So after looking at the pictures. What is
your guess?
Hummm? Did you said Europe? Huh? Or did
you said France?
Alright here is one more picture to look
at.
This is a far view of Colmar Tropicale in Pahang, Malaysia. Yes, you read it correct. It is in Malaysia. It is a theme resort reminiscent of an authentic north eastern French village in Colmar, France dating back centuries. Located at the centre of the resort is Colmar Square surrounded by a myriad of vibrant blooms, a fountain, wishing well, viewing tower and cuckoo clock tower. You saw them in the pictures above.
Upon seeing the pictures, my German friend,
Sabine Weinstein said it is amazing that Colmar Tropicale made quite a
good copies of the houses and everything. She told me that the original
Colmar is a town in Alsace, that is the easternmost part of France that
frequently went back and forth from Germany to France and from France to
Germany before the world war. Alsace is a more German-like than French.
The older generation of people there speak a kind of dialect that mixes
French and German but with more German than French. But now the new generation
become more French-like and speak French only as it is such a long time
since they last belonged to Germany.
Someday when I visit Europe, I hope to have
the opportunity to visit and see the real Colmar in France. Then you will
get to see another update to this homepage.
