This page is dedicate to Sabine
Weinstein in Germany.
This is the Batu Caves in Selangor, Malaysia,
where we didn't get to visit
when we were back-packed travelling in 1997.
I got the opportunity to visit
it during my holidays to Selangor-Pahang,
Malaysia in March 2001.
Here are the pictures to share with you,
Sabine.
Batu Caves consist of three main caves and
a number of smaller ones. The best known of these caves is the Temple Cave,
a large cavern with a vaulted ceiling of 100m above the floor. To reach
it one has to climb 272 steps, a fest performed by many Hindus on the way
to the caves during the religious festival of Thaipusam to offer prayers
to their revered deities. (See "An Indian Festival" for more information
about Thaipusam.)
The 272 steps to Temple Cave. Look challenging?
After the climbing and reached the top, I felt my legs turned weak and
became 'jelly like' ha...ha...
A Hindu Shrine inside Batu Caves.
One of the fascinating views inside the
cave.
A monkey praying? Saw this monkey up the
cave's wall with three statues of Hindu deities.
Err... don't let me interrupt you, dear
monkey... please continue with your praying...
