KinKi Kids got into Johnnys agency when their older sisters sent in applications for them. Tsuyoshi said that his first impression of Kouichi was that he kind of looked like a nerd. He was wearing glasses and looked like the "studying and intellectual" type. At first, this duo was called "W (double) Doumoto" because of their identical last names, then it was changed to "Kansai Bou-ya" which means "young boys from the Kansai area". They did not like these names, and hated their newest and permanent name, "KinKi Kids" even more. "I thought our careers were over the second I heard our new name," laughs Tsuyoshi, "I hated being called KinKi Kids, but now, I have gotten used to it, so it doesn't bother me anymore". Kouichi also recalls, "Each time we were called KinKi Kids, I wanted to say, 'Don't call us that!'".
There is always a question if KinKi Kids are actually close friends in their personal lives. They have personally commented before that their relationship is an awkward and unique one, "We aren't married, brothers, or even exactly personal friends...it's just very wierd". Also, it is known that Tsuyoshi refuses to see Kouichi for non-work occasions, and they haven't even been to each other's houses before! However, this does not mean that they hate each other, KinKi Kids have never had a single fight in the numerous years that they have been together. It also seems like Kouichi really likes Tsuyoshi, but Tsuyoshi might not like Kouichi as much (well in my opinion)
In Kouichi's words, "Everything would go downhill if we faught, and besides, we are in love (laughs)!" In Tsuyoshi's words, "We have fist fights every day...so big that the security has to break us apart! We even have a boxing ring set up backstage. I make Kouichi cry all the time! (smiles)"
Kouichi is currently jealous of the V6 member Okada Junichi because he is very close with Tsuyoshi. Tsuyoshi even wrote him a song ("Kimi To Aeta Junigatsu" or "The December That I Met You")! Kouichi can be seen on television shows complaining that all Tsuyoshi talks about now days is Junichi this....Junichi that....I personally find it very cute, but Kouichi has a close friend of his own: Tokio's Nagase Tomoya. Nagase Tomoya is Kouichi's only Johhnys Agency talent friend. Tsuyoshi seems more like a friendly guy who has lots of Johnnys Agency talents as friends, while Kouichi is more of a reserved and conservative type. Although they have totally opposite personalities, they both have a great sense of humor, and they make a great match together!
These two guys have spent almost half of their lives together already, and I'm sure they have gone through thick and thin and will continue to be KinKi Kids Forever!
