Doumoto Kouichi is also a very popular star in Japan right now. He hosts numerous amounts of television shows such as "Pikachi" and "Pop Jam". Kouichi's nickname is "The Prince" because he is offten associated with a elegant prince riding on a white horse. Tsuyoshi frequently makes remarks like, "I saw your white horse parked outside again." Kouichi seems to enjoy his nickname and often gets mad at Tsuyoshi for acting more like a comedian than an idol. He has scolded Tsuyoshi many times saying, "Stop doing that! We're supposed to princes!" Ohno Satoshi of Arashi is said to be Kouichi's succeeder, but Kouichi isn't planning on giving up his throne so easily!
Basically, Kouichi and Tsuyoshi are almost total opposites in personality and talents. Kouichi has a more supposedly "elegant" image and Tsuyoshi has more of a supposedly "masculine" image. Kouichi likes, actually LOVES cats while Tsuyoshi loves dogs, Kouichi likes fancy sports cars while Tsuyoshi is just satisfied with any car as long as it's comfortable. (Kouichi owns a red convertible while Tsuyoshi owns a used and a quite old car.) Kouichi is good as baseball while Tsuyoshi is good at basketball. Kouichi has a "cold" image while Tsuyoshi's image is warmer. Kouichi is a better dancer while Tsuyoshi is a better singer. Kouichi usually talks more on tv than Tsuyoshi does, but it's been said that Tsuyoshi actually talks more than Kouichi off screen. Although they both have a great sense of humor, there is a difference here as well. Kouichi's jokes are hilarious and sometimes a little mean while Tsuyoshi's jokes are more corny and very silly. At first it seems that these guys have a lot in common considering that they are the same age, were born in the same region of Japan and have the exact same last names, they are indeed VERY different.
Kouichi can be seen in many dramas. He was in "Ienaki Ko 2" (Homeless Girl 2), "Ginou Kaiki File ~Futatsu No Nou Mo Motsu Shonen" (Legends of Silver Wolf ~The Boy With Two Brains), "Moku You No Kaidan ~Cyborg" (Thursday Ghost Stories ~Cyborg), "P.S. Genki Desu, Shunpei" (P.S. I'm fine, Shunpei), "Tenshi Ga Kieta Machi" (The City of Disappearing Angels), and now the new drama "Rookie!" starting this season. Kouichi is also a very talented singer-songwriter. He has written songs like "My Wish" one B Album, "Eien No Hibi" (Endless Days) on D Album, and he even wrote the music to "Suki Ni Natte Ku Aishiteku" (Start to Like, Start to Love). Like Tsuyoshi, the tv program "Love Love Aishiteru" really gave Kouichi the opportunity to write such nice songs. Unfortunetly this long-running show is going to end in the end of March, but it will be replaced with another KinKi Kids program called "Doumoto Kyoudai" (Doumoto Brothers).
