| Ghost - The soul or spirit of a dead person. Another definition of a ghost is a secondary image or signal, resulting from echo, envelope display distortion or multipath reception. Some believe it is a disembodied spirit. Banshee - A woman who is part of the fairy or sidhe family, and is said to wail before a death. Ghost Hunter - An individual seeking the scientific evidence of the existance of ghosts. Ghost Town - In the 1800's, many towns grew in the western part of the United States. When the mines were worked out, the towns were abandoned. The ruins now are called Ghost Towns. Poltergeist - A mischevious or malevolent spirit often playful, bringing noise, moving objects and sometimes physical disturbances. Another definition is that the telekinetic activity caused by a distressed individual. The individual expresses emotion and causes objects to move, etc. Spirit - A supernatural being without physical form. Specter - A ghostly appearing figure. Any incorporeal supernatural being that can become visible or audible. Supernatural - Something that is not the usual. Something that is not "natural" or has been altered by forces that are not fully understood. Paranormal - An event that is not scientifically explainable. Orb - A sometimes round object of spirit energy. Not to be confused with dust, pollen or moisture. Ectoplasm - A mist left by ghosts or a substance supposed to emulate from the body of a Medium during a seance. Seance - A sitting. A way of communicating with the dead. The sitting usually uses a Medium which is said to use herself/hiself as a tool. Ouija Board - The game of the Talking Board. Distributed and manufactured by Parker Brothers, is a tool used for communication between the living and the dead. Participants use a device called a planchette, they place their fingers lightly on the planchette and ask the board a question. The planchette then guided by supposed supernatural force glides across the board giving answers. **WARNING** Never use a Ouija Board Alone! Ouija boards are DANGEROUS, and could cause a manifestation of entities that may be malevolent or very unpleasant. Reincarnation - When the soul of a deceased person seeks out a new body (host) to be physically reborn into life. Haunting - An often repeated manifestation of a strange and unexplainable sensory events such as smells, sounds, tactile sensations and hallucinations that are said to be caused by spirits attached to a specific location. Intelligent Haunting - Paranormal activity centered around a certain location or person by an entity that was once human and have died but have not crossed over. The spirit is believed to be conscious and interacts with the living trying to make its presence know. Demon - An evil spirit. A source or agent of evil, harm, distress or ruin. Devil - The personal supreme spirit of evil often represented in Jewish or Christian belief. The tempter of man and ruler of Hell. Demonologist - One who studies demons and the adverse of christianity. |
