| Plotting in metric | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hi, I am new to using Autocad 2002 and would like to print out my drawing from the paperspace which I created from a part of a very detailed map. I would like to print from my portview in a scale of 1:500. How do I set to this scale. I am in fact printing in A3 paper size for my final print out. When I use plot command, there is a preference in the plot scale area , both "fit to scale" and "custom" (_____mm= ______drawing units). Should use 1 mm = 500 drawing units so that it will print out in as a scale of 1:500 or what should I do ? I would very much apprecaite if you could help me in this respect Thanks in advance Yacob when I use custom=____1__mm =_500____ drawing units, it shows a warning that , effective area too small to display, if I use 1mm=.2 drawing units , only part of it will be printed out. |
Yacob, Just to clarify, you are talking about 1:500 as in 1 meter is equal to 500 meters. The ratio actually works out to be 1:0.5 because of the use of milimeters instead of meters. The true ratio is 1000mm=500m. Its easiest to set this up in the MVsetup and set the scale of your Mview. Use the scale option on MVsetup and set the scale here and then print using 1:1. To check your drawings for accuracy just put an old aniquated scale on it and check some distances. You might even want to put in a line that is a known length, say 10m or 50m long so you can see how well you did. Good Luck Jim |
