Episode 4:   Mr. Kelly's Lecture on Love

I'd hardly comprehended all the things they'd said to me
Researching Fives and teaching them
was not my cup of tea!

I said goodbye to Mrs. Gunn, remembering my stew
and as it burned upon the stove
another voice came through

Don't worry Lou about your stew, just give them jam or jelly
I really want to talk with you
my name is Mister Kelly

Bushranging was my way of life and for it I was tried
I used to think that 'such is life'*
until the day I died

But now I'd like to say to you the same as Mrs. Gunn
that Sharing is the only way
when all is said and done

I know because it's poverty that brought me to my fate
It causes families misery
it causes men to hate

Can anyone imagine what a change that it would make
if everyone received a share
and no-one had to take

It's better far to give to all than only one who needs it
Patronage may cause mankind
To Bite The Hand That Feeds It

If Caritas means charity and charity means Love
Is it condescending when it's
shown from up above?

The meaning of equality is simply an equation
It takes the whole; divides it by
the Planet's population

There is a song that's rarely sung 'The World Owes me a Living'
Regarded as a satire
and a stupid way of giving

But tell that to a baby, born to starve until he's dead
He'd surely say that song is true
or else my name's not Ned

You know I've heard that Kennedy manufactured money
to stop manipulation of
the money that's not funny

And money isn't funny when it keeps your years in check
to spend life as a debtor with
a rope around your neck

It's so absurd remembering how I started full of hope
I never thought that I would end
my life upon that rope

All stories have a moral but I think that mine's the best
Don't ever let your head hang down
just rest it on your chest!

It's known to most religions as a means of being able
to say your prayers in comfort
while you contemplate your navel

What? you ask, has this to do with Kennedy and Money
Well, Kennedy was well aware
of ET's Bread and Honey

All that I can tell you is, it's not that hard to please
your family with home grown food
and money grown on trees

I hear you laugh derisively "Oh what's all this about?"
Money grown on trees? What next?
We're going down the spout!

It's not the spout that YOU go down that causes us the pain
if you don't all pull your socks up
then WE ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN!!

Yes, it's called co-operation, a lesson to be learned
By you, by me, by all of us
Don't leave a stone unturned

The clues are there before you all, the ME, the NET, the GRAIL
To understand the meaning of
You Hit Head On The Nail

Now, see here Ned, my ET said, `Lou's going back to bed'
why can't you say it properly
To hit nail on the head?

  She says that you're confusing her by talking back to front
So could you keep it simple
just tell her what you want?

I said, "Oh gee, it worries me, I'm sick of all this scheming
Life was so much easier
before I started dreaming"

This talk of clues, the Me , the Net, the money and the Grail
I'm going to forget it all
It's gone beyond the Pale*

I'll go back to my cleaning chores and cook the family dinners
Then off to footy we'll all go
and hope we come out winners

It's so much better not to think about that which confounds us
What could I do anyway
to change the world around us?

Yet what was that the ET said? 'You could have helped the cause'
Perhaps I'll ask the girls at golf
while we're out yelling fore's

But they will think I'm crazy if I tell them of Ned Kelly
of Mrs. Gunn and ET too
they'll say it's too much telly !

Perhaps I'll keep it to myself and give it much more thought
I'll give consideration to
the things that I've been taught

For it is true I asked ET to please show me the way
and now I've turned my back on him
and after just one day.

Maybe there are others who are trying hard to reach us
I'll ask ET and Kelly too
to come back here and teach us
