| For immediate release 7 July 2006 Julie Morgan, MP for Cardiff North, raised the issue of Llanishen Reservoir in the House of Commons today at Business Questions. She asked Nigel Griffiths MP, the Deputy Leader of the House, when there could be a debate on reservoirs like Llanishen. She told the House of Commons about Western Power Distribution's plans to concrete over parts of the reservoir, despite huge public protest, the discovery of a new Site of Special Scientific Interest and the successful sailing club that uses the facility. Julie said: "A place of beauty has been marred by a spiked metal fence and a security guard with Alsatian dogs. I was very concerned when I visited the reservoir recently to see that the water level had gone down and the peace and tranquility was being spoilt by the fence, guards and dogs." Julie and Sue Essex, Assembly Member for Cardiff North, are due to meet with Mr C Oosthuizen, Group Finance Director of WPD, shortly when they will once again by urging WPD to change its plans. ENDS |
