& Circle of Prayer Partner / Friends
Where: Chapel of St. Aelred Monastery
When :Wednesday November 12, 2003
Time:  7:30 P.M.

I will celebrate the Mass in thanksgiving for the gift of life today and  these past seven and a half decades. I will give thanks for the opportunity  to work in God's service as a voice calling out for sex-positive theology in  the Philippines. I will give thanks for the edification I receive from all  the members and friends of St. Aelred's. I will give thanks for the  unbounded joy of my relationship with Simon. I will preach on II Corinthians  5 in commemoration of the ministry God has called me to.

I can't get together with my blood relatives, but my wonderful family of  friends in the Order of St. Aelred, the Gay Men's Support Groups, the Circle  of Prayer Partner Friends, and all my gay and lesbian friends, and those  in  the various friendly NGOs and e-groups are my family here in the  Philippines.

Thank you,

"Dangerous Living: Coming Out in the Developing World"
Feature Documentary Film
Narrated by Janeane Garofalo
Produced by John Scagliotti, Dan Hunt, Janet Bau and Reid Williams.

A provocative new film that uncovers the volativ\le story of an emerging gay identity in the global south.  Through personal 'coming out' stories of people in the developing world, Dangerous Living sheds light on an emerging global movement striving to end the atrocities against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

FILM:

"Nina"
A film by Rolmar Baldonado

Thirtysomething Nina is an adopted name for Noni Benito who decided upon arrival in Sydney that he wanted to pursue the transformation path from being a gay guy to being a special girl, which is Nina's term for a transgendered person.  Four years into her transformation, Nina discusses how she coped with the adjustments of being part of a double minority, a migrant and a transgendered person, and how she faced the challenges she encountered.  The body of the film is done in voiceover with accompanying film images.

DANCE PERFORMANCES

Featured contemporary performances by artist-choreographers Enrico Labayen and Myra Beltran.  The original solonumbers are expressions of their creative genius. Included is the world premiere of "I Am Stretched on Your Grave, a letter".

ONE-MAN PLAY
"MotherSON"

Written and performed by Emmy Award-nominated writer/performer Jeffrey Solomon, the one-man stage drama tackles the shock felt by a Jewish Mom at her son's coming out as a gay man. Mom and Brad reconcile through exchanges recorded on telephone answering machines. The play premiered in Off Broadway in September 1997 and since then has been touring in the United States.

16 NOVEMBER 2003:

22ND IGLA WORLD Conference
Solidarity Pride Parade
Assembly Time:4:00PM
Parade Start: Vito Cruz,Century Park Hotel
Parade Finish: Remedios Circle

In support of the 22nd World Conference of the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA), ProGay Philippines is  hosting a simple Solidarity Pride Parade with delegates from  Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and North America, on  November 16, Sunday afternoon. Local host organizations have been feting ILGA Conferences in every host city, the last one being Oakland, California in 2001.

The assembly point is the parking area in front of the Century Park Hotel at Vito Cruz Street in Malate Manila between 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. and will proceed to Roxas Boulevard and finally down Remedios Street to end up in Remedios Circle and ends at around 7:00 p.m.

Come as you are or join us in your best costume, the important  thing is warm bodies to show our friends from overseas our support for global struggles advancing rights and welfare of lesbian, transgender, bisexual, gay and intersexed people. We ask people intending to join to be respectful of others' sense of decorum and gender expressions.

Bring candles, torches, rainbow banners, glow-in-the-dark sticks, drums, horns and other festive parade paraphernalia. Volunteer your car, truck, bike, kariton or skateboard to  join whatever convoy we manage to assemble. Decorate your set  of wheels into a makeshift float, it's back to basics in these hard times.

Carry placards showing your Pride as LGBTI (or straight supporter of queers, so get your friends and family to come with you!).

Please coordinate with me, Oscar Atadero of ProGay for your parade delegation and suggested styles. Call me (tel. 3673109 or cellphone 0919 3150123)*

*Due to many text messages and emails for World Conference work,  please be patient with my replies as we cannot possibly entertain  a big volume of inquiries by text. We prefer you call or send  emails instead of text messages. The information written here is  basic information. Advisories will mostly be by email and media announcements. Thank you for your kind understanding.
