JUCSE 99 , besides its obvious aim of having a good time, also supports worthy social causes. Being after-all goodtime JUCSE-ians more than one project at one time confuses us ! So as of now we are supporting Sandipan: a project to provide low cost computer education in rural Bengal.

Sandipan is a computer centre in Arambagh sub-divison of Midnapore. Prof Samiran Chattopadhyay and his wife Matangini together have spent almost 1.25 lakh and the people around the village has contributed 0.75 lakh. The centre trains students of the school (Class IX to Class XII) about computers following the syllabus of the additional subject on Computers recently introduced at the Secondary level. At present, there are four P-3 PCs, a dot matrix printer, UPS, furniture.Sandipan has 65 students learning the first module (4-months) at a cost of Rs.50 per month.

JUCSE 99 has raised Rs 51,000 towards this school. If you are interested in contributing to this project/ wish to know more about it please mail Arun Saha.
