One reason why I moved to Chicago back in 2000, is that I am a fan of Kurt Elling - a very groovy cat who is an amazing vocalese jazz artist with an impressive body of work and great live performances. Seriously. Rachel and I have had the pleasure of seeing Kurt perform live at several venues, including at Chicago's Symphony Centre on August 23, 2003. His recent album "Man in the Air" kicks butt, too. We caught Kurt most recently in Ann Arbor, MI performing (with others) Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass".
