2005 All-TFFL Teams

Superlatives:
MVP: Shaun Alexander, RB, Heelbillys
Surprise of the Year: Santana Moss, WR, The Berserkers
Bust of the Year: Kevin Jones, RB, The Jayhawks

FIRST TEAM
QUARTERBACK: Carson Palmer, The Jayhawks
Numbers: 228 points in 14 starts
Drafted: 10th pick in the 7th round (No. 76 overall), 11th among QBs

After biding his time behind Brett Favre on The Jayhawks' bench for one week, Palmer proved he was more than just another Heisman-winning college boy who couldn't get it done in the NFL.

RUNNING BACK: Shaun Alexander, Heelbillys
Numbers: 253 points in 16 starts
Drafted: 4th pick in the 1st round (No. 4 overall), 3rd among RBs

Ladies and gentleman, your TFFL MVP. Alexander, of course, led the league in scoring in making his fourth All-TFFL Team. He also helped Heelbillys win some money by finishing in third place.

RUNNING BACK: LaDainian Tomlinson, Carolina Killers
Numbers: 204 points in 16 starts
Drafted: 1st pick in the 1st round (No. 1 overall), 1st among RBs

Hodges shocked the world (well, maybe just the Commish) on draft day by bypassing Peyton Manning and taking LT2. I guess I was wrong on that one. Hmph! It's Tomlinson's third time on the All-TFFL Team.

RUNNING BACK: Larry Johnson, The Jayhawks
Numbers: 189 points in 11 starts
Drafted: 2nd pick in the 10th round (No. 101 overall), 36th among RBs

If Priest Holmes returns in 2006, Johnson could be the trickiest call in the TFFL Draft. Speaking of Holmes ... always, always, always protect your star players by drafting their backup, if said backup is any good. And we knew LJ was good going into the 2005 season.

WIDE RECEIVER: Steve Smith, The Jayhawks
Numbers: 165 points in 16 starts
Drafted: 2nd pick in the 4th round (No. 35 overall), 11th among WRs

The Commish is sure glad Smith got enough points to make the All-TFFL team, considering the volatile wide receiver's anger management issues. I don't like getting yelled at and/or beat up!

WIDE RECEIVER: Marvin Harrison, Carolina Killers
Numbers: 134 points in 14 starts
Drafted: 11th pick in the 2nd round (No. 22 overall), 3rd among WRs

"Marvelous Marvin" makes his second consecutive and sixth career selection to the All-TFFL first team, a great feat for one of the handful of active players who have been around as long as TFFL has.

TIGHT END: Antonio Gates, The Berserkers
Numbers: 109 points in 15 starts
Drafted: 5th pick in the 4th round (No. 38 overall), 2nd among TEs

Apparently his training camp holdout and Week 1 suspension didn't hurt him too much. Interesting factoid: The tight end drafted one pick ahead of him (Tony Gonzalez) made the All-Bust Team. Do you think The Gamblers wish they had that pick to do over again?

KICKER: Jason Elam, Wile E. Coyotes
Numbers: 120 points in 16 starts
Drafted: 6th pick in the 10th round (No. 105 overall), 4th among Ks

Hey, somebody's got to win. Interestly enough, it's Elam's first selection to the All-TFFL team. Not as interesting, but worth a mention: The Gamblers' two-year streak of having their kicker selected to the first team ends.

DEFENSE: Carolina Panthers, The Berserkers
Numbers: 156 points in 16 starts
Drafted: 5th pick in the 10th round (No. 104 overall), 5th among Ds

They started off slow (28 points in first five starts) but came alive fantasy-wise as the real Panthers started to struggle.

SECOND TEAM
QB: Peyton Manning, Collard Greens | 213 points in 16 starts
RB: Tiki Barber, Wile E. Coyotes | 155 points in 16 starts
RB: Edgerrin James, The Gamblers | 130 points in 14 starts
RB: Clinton Portis, Jellypop Fighters | 125 points in 15 starts
WR: Santana Moss, The Berserkers | 127 points in 15 starts
WR: Chad Johnson, The Jayhawks | 123 points in 15 starts
TE: Jeremy Shockey, The Jayhawks | 82 points in 15 starts
K: Jeff Wilkins, The Gamblers | 117 points in 15 starts
D: Denver Broncos, Alread's Alicantos | 144 points in 16 starts

2005 FLUSHES: THE BUSTS
QB: Trent Green, T-Bird (4th QB taken) | 44 points in 6 starts
Eventually turned it around, but was so bad for first half of season he got cut.
RB: Kevin Jones, The Jayhawks (10th overall pick) | 4 points in 4 starts
Just call him the Pokey Hokie.
RB: Jamal Lewis, The Berserkers (7th overall pick) | 21 points in 11 starts
Are they sure they let the right guy out of jail?
RB: Ahman Green, Alread's Alicantos (12th overall pick) | 3 points in 5 starts
Yeah, he got hurt, but he was a zero before his knee gave way.
WR: Joe Horn, The Berserkers (8th WR taken) | 20 points in 16 starts
Was a better spokesman than playmaker for hurricane-ravaged Saints.
WR: Nate Burleson, Alread's Alicantos (final pick in 3rd round) | 10 points in 12 starts
Scored more on the Vikings' sex cruise than he did on the field.
TE: Tony Gonzalez, The Gamblers (1st TE taken) | 32 points in 15 starts
The next pick in the draft (Gates) was slightly more productive.
K: David Akers, The Berserkers (3rd K taken) | 23 points in 4 starts
Wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire before injury.
D: New England Patriots, Collard Greens (2nd D taken) | 18 points in 4 starts
They gave up 37 to the Saints. 'Nuff said.

ALL-VALUE TEAM
QB: Carson Palmer, The Jayhawks

RB: Willie Parker, The Berserkers (signed as FA by The Jayhawks prior to Week 1) | 68 points in 13 starts

K: Shayne Graham, The Berserkers (16th round - No. 170 overall) | 106 points in 13 starts
D: Denver Broncos, Alread's Alicantos (18th round - No. 188 overall)
