Dougal McFaul and Cecelia Quinn were both born in Ireland. The McFaul name was known in Antrim and probably came to Ireland with immigrant Scots. The McFauls were living

in Port Colborne, Ontario in 1856 when their daughter Mary Cecelia was born. Dougal and Cecelia had at least two other children; Thomas J., born in April 15th 1867, and Alexander J., born in 1868.

     In 1880 the McFaul's emigrated to the United States, although where they lived in the U. S. is a mystery at the moment. Mary Cecelia married John Francis Sheedy and was living in Oswego, New York in 1882. Her brothers would both make their way to Buffalo, New York and settle there. Thomas arrived first, sometime before 1900. In that year he lived in a rented flat at 20 Sycamore Street with his wife Mary and her mother, Bridget Barry. Alexander was in Buffalo by 1910. Alexander's family occupied part of a two-family home at 141 Congress Street in Buffalo's "Black Rock" section. Alexander owned the home free of mortgage. He and his wife Cecelia had two children. James A., born in 1904 and Catherine A. who was born in 1905.

     Catherine McFaul was often seen at Sheedy family gatherings in Buffalo. She lived for many years on Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls in a condo overlooking the Niagara River and taught Mathematics in the Niagara Falls Schools. Catherine, who had never married, died October 25th, 1991.

      By 1920 Thomas had moved away from downtown Buffalo to a home at 914 Michigan Ave. He and Mary never had children. Alexander, who worked as a foreman in a wholesale company, and his family still lived at 141 Congress in 1920. Tom, aged 75, was still living in Buffalo in 1942, at 354 Franklin Street. He died August 8th, 1950 in Buffalo.
