| It's not hard to become an actor and it's not that costly either. Be careful of agencies that require you to pay them money to take their classes and use only their headshot photographers!! These agencies usually have a deal set up with the instructor and the photographers which will end up costing you (sometimes) thousands of dollars upfront. This is NOT necessary to get started. Real talent agencies don't ask you for money. They get paid when they find you a job. There are great headshot photographers all over the tri-state area of MD, DC, and VA that are very experienced and very reasonable in their prices. There are fantastic acting instructors that are recognized and respected in the acting industry who can help you. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO GET STARTED: 1. Headshot photographer 2. Headshot printer 3. Resume 4. List of agencies and casting directors to submit to 5. Basic knowledge of industry terms. Acting classes and workshops can be a bit costly - anywhere from $175-$600. Although acting classes and workshops are highly recommended to help sharpen your skills, in the beginning of your career, it is not a necessity if you do not have the extra funds at the moment. When you do have the extra funds, take a class or two. If you have it now, take some classes!! Even the most seasoned actors and top celebrities continue to take classes and workshops. You can never get enough training. Look at Tiger Woods. As good as he is, he still has a coach that helps him during his practice. All just to stay on top of his game. Well, acting is not any different. We all have to stay on top of our game in order to stay on top.
