Containment Informative
Essay

During the Cold War, US had a strict foreign policy
called Containment. The US vowed to stop the spread of Communism.
The United States' main rival liked to spread communism and the
US wanted to contain it. North China was under control of Communism from
the USSR. South China was next, and the US tried to stop it. Unfortunately
the leader of North China was more people oriented than the leader
of South China, and it fell to Communism. Next a similar situation
in Korea came up. The North was controlled by USSR the South the
US. This time the US did not give up so easy. The US stopped the
army coming into South Korea and with the army stopped the Communism.
The US wanted to keep foreign relations as less
hostile as possible. When General MacArthur defied Truman directly
and sent troops into North Korea, Truman dismissed him and sent
the troops back. He let the Communism stay but he did not let it
spread. If he would have let MacArthur continue it could have been
World War III.
The US kept there vow and did not let Communism
spread, and in turn prevented a very near at the time, WWIII.
