Assessing Your Remote’s JP1 Connection

The first step in troubleshooting JP1 download problems is to make sure the JP1 interface portion of your remote is working correctly.  Some remotes come with a six pin JP1 connection pre-installed.  Some remotes require a user to solder the six pin JP1 connection into place.  Some remotes even require a user add an EEPROM memory chip to the circuit board of the remote in order to be programmed.

What type of six pin JP1 interface is required for the remote you are trying to program?

My remote came with a six pin JP1 connection.

My remote requires me to solder a six pin JP1 connection.

My remote requires me to add an EEPROM memory chip.

My remote doesn’t support a JP1 connection.

I don’t know.
