The easiest way to determine if a remote is JP1 compatible is to look for the telltale six pin JP1 connector in the battery compartment of the remote. In some cases, the interface is specifically labeled JP1.
The JP1 Users Group also maintains list of known JP1 compatible remotes in the Miscellaneous folder of the Files section. A link to this spreadsheet is included in the Reference Links section. You should check this list to see if your remote is JP1 compatible. If your remote is not on this list but you have reason to believe that your remote is JP1 compatible, you should post a message to the Messages section of the JP1 Users Group.
