Gender: Male
Species: Human (Wizard)
Age: 18
Born in: Allantria
Powers: Vincent has access to a surprisingly wide variety of spells,
each with different effects. He semi-specialises in battle-spells,
using their offensive might to slay his enemies. Though not exactly a
power as such, Vincent is a fairly skilled chef, specializing in what
wizards dub “scrounging cookery”- rendering
whatever vaguely edible
rubbish you can get your hands on into a decent meal. He
doesn’t like
to admit this though. In addition, one of Vincent’s earliest
adventures
saw him fighting and slaying a Tulga Hag. After the fight, Vincent
chopped off her fingers and pulled her fangs out, using them in a
special ritual to mutate his own teeth and fingernails. Like a Tulga
Hag’s, they are literally iron hard and razor sharp, and
Vincent can
switch between having them normal and elongating them into deadly fangs
and claws. He normally keeps the thumb and index finger on each hand in
“claw-mode”.
Appearance: much to his distaste, Vincent is rather short-
approximately 5 feet 6 inches. His skin is pale, as you would expect
from someone who has spent essentially all their life in a dark chamber
reading musty old tomes whilst heavily covered by clothing. He is very
thin, natural leanness exaggerated by the dual rigors of channelling
magical energy (a very calorie-sapping process) and irregular eating
cycles- Vincent rarely knows where his next meal is coming from and is
thus quite inured to hunger. A side effect of being a wizard in
Allantria is that, eventually, the power causes bizarre metamorphosis,
a state that Vincent is just coming into. The tips of his black hair
–which he wears fairly long, more out of simple disdain for
maintaining
it than anything else, though he ensures that the fringe is trimmed to
his forehead to prevent it getting into his eyes- have turned a
metallic blue, whilst his right eye –the left remains green-
has turned
blood-red. He dresses in close-fitting long trousers, sturdy boots and
gloves and a long-sleeved shirt similar to his trousers, especially
devoid of ornamentation. He tops this all with a long cloak and a
wide-brimmed pointy hat, which adds a further 4 inches to his height.
He is extremely possessive in regards to his hat.
Personality: a life of wrestling with spellbooks, bargaining with
infernal entities and being treated by all non-wizards as something
filthier than the bottom of your boots after spending a mile running
behind a herd of diarrheic camels has, naturally, hardened
Vincent’s
personality quite considerably. He is cynical, sarcastic, and possessed
of a certain “f’k you” attitude in
regards to everyone- as he puts it,
he looks out only for himself. This isn’t the entire truth-
deep down,
he’s lonely and as vulnerable as anyone else; the trick is
simply
getting close enough to him to find this out. He’s quite
mercenary in
nature, easily tempted to do things for the promise of a reward
–especially if that “reward” is the
opportunity for further magical
power- but he’s fairly reluctant to break his word.
He’s never had a
comrade or an ally before, but once he has his loyalty to them
–regardless of his actual feelings towards them- is virtually
unbreakable.
Equipment: Vincent has several arcane artefacts and, most
importantly of all, his spellbook, as well as some various other sundry
supplies (flint & tinder, extra clothes etc). The reason he is
so
possessive of his hat is explained by the fact his hat is actually a
modified Bag of Holding- everything he owns is contained within it. His
other arcane items are:
Lens of Seeing- this wide-lensed magnifying glass grants the
holder the ability to see invisible things and to see through
illusions. In the New World, it also acts like an x-ray window,
granting the holder to literally look inside things.
Decanter of Endless Fluid- this ornately decorated bottle can
produce a limitless supply of any form of fluid Vincent desires; water,
wine, antitoxin, healing potion, anything.
His transmutations eeforewithin the story: *Rectractile cold iron
fangs & claws
*Preternaturally strong grip
*Voice is always monotone
*Hair is turning blue
*Eyes are mismatched colours (the blood-red one is the "new" eye)
Gender: Female
Species: Dragon
Age: 75 (equivalent to 18 in dragon terms)
Born in: Allantria
Powers: as a dragon, Naith has far greater than human strength, natural
armour, a powerful tail, razor-sharp fangs and claws and the ability to
fly. She also has the ability to breathe underwater –a family
trait-
and two different types of breath weapon. However, she isn’t
much a
fighter- more a rather average brawler, dependant on her superhuman
strength and resilience to win. Her two breath weapons are:
Hellscream- a devastating line-shaped blast of sonic energy that
can shatter steel and flesh with equal ease, Naith tends to rely on
this attack most of all.
Inebriating Gas- Naith hates to even admit she has this breath
weapon. By belching loudly, Naith can disgorge a cloud of sickly silver
mist from her mouth, along with the heavy scent of fermenting grain.
Those who inhale this toxic vapour find themselves literally
blind-drunk.
Appearance: Several feet tall, this dragoness may appear to be rather
large, but she is in fact considered to be the runt of a clutch of
eggs. Her white horns protrude off to the side of her
head...[more coming soon]
Personality: having only just left the “nest”,
Naith is quite
nervous and unsure of herself, which she attempts to mask with a shield
of aggression and confidence. She can be quite sweet, but tries to push
others away for fear of being hurt. Think Asuka from Neon Genesis
Evangelion, only without the severe mental problems. In addition, Naith
–like many dragons- can be quite gluttonous; her draconic
metabolism
means she can easily eat her own weight in food without gaining an
ounce.
Equipment: nothing; Naith has only just left her family to begin
gathering her own hoard at the start of the series, so she has nothing
more than sufficient clothing preserve her modesty.
King John can do no wrong.
At least, in the minds of his people. Raised as
Prince John for two decades under his father King Ross, he learned the
ways of nobilty, or the ways to make him appear noble. His
stature was always a little off, so his father built a light brace on
his back to make him appear more powerful than he was. He was
to be King regardless, because his older brother left the kingdom to
marry a princess in another kingdom months away. He would not
stoop to his level, and within days of his coronation, he had wed the
new Queen, though rumors say he has only made love to her twice, once
on his wedding night and once to create an heir to the throne.
Unfortunately, his queen bore a daughter, but he cherished
her like a diamond. Though his reign has been less than
satisfying, he learned how to appear as if he was doing something to
the world. He focused on a scapegoat to hide his true motive:
wizards. It is unknown what caused his prejudiced view on
wizards, and noone will probably know.
Princess Mary is best described as she is found in Chapter 1 of the
main story - "
The princess was roughly seven years old
or so by the look of her,
a typical example of her species with long, elaborately styled blond
hair and blue eyes. She was clad in a gaudy, overly fancy dress
–one
that had seen better days, given the numerous tears and mud stains-
that made her look two or even three times bigger than she truly was
with all its frills and bows and lacy growths. She had an air to her,
an aura that immediately revealed her true bratty nature to anyone
whose eyes were unclouded by patriotism. If not for the fact he had
already hated her for everything she was, everything that she
represented, Vincent would have despised her instantly." She
is
indeed a brat, but her father made sure she could protect herself, even
from the likes of wizards and dragons. A jewel around her
neck
can cause dimensional banishment, though her father asked her to only
use it sparingly...the missing number of people in the kingdom has
risen greatly since she received it as a gift for her birthday.
The ruler of Chamlek, the biggest city in Syphony. He came
into
power thirty years before Naith and Vincent encountered him, and the
aging king is under attack from the chaos. His ancestor
created
the shrine to the Sacred Scrolls, but for some reason, these scrolls
were destroyed a few years into his reign. King Leonius's
wife is
running longer in years, and there is fear that he will not be able to
continue his riteous line. A lion beastman, he is courageous
at
heart, but he cannot go out of his kingdom when it is in the horrible
state of condition it is currently in. So, he waits for his
kingdom to collapse or for some heroes to save the world.
Luckily, he runs into the two supposed saviors of his world,
but
he has grown pessimistic over the last two decades. He but
wishes
for a child to call his own, and to save his kingdom.
The seer of King Leonius's father, he was the one to learn the news of
the desctruction of the sacred scrolls a few years into the new king's
reign. "An aged hawk-man with
a slightly
crooked beak and dull-yellow wing-feathers, splattered
with ink-black markings." He was last seen by his pupil, and
he
was said to be heading for the supposed location of the sacred temple
that contains the scrolls that have been destroyed. Little
else
is known of the old man, except that he is well-known by most seers in
many kingdoms as being the best at predicting and spell-casting than
several hundred wizards combined. Whether he is better than
Vincent remains to be seen.
The most recent ruler of Gastria, a Kingdom once ruled by a racist
aristocracy. He came into power by a bout of luck and, with
his friends and daughter, his reign began. He appears to be a
generous king to those outside of the kingdom, but he actually shows
great hatred for those who do not share with his ideas of power.
Unlike the previous ruler, Ceros shows no compassion to
anyone other than his cronies, all of whom are pigs. He seems
to have his mind set on something else, however, and as each day
progresses, he cares less for his boar aristocracy.
Vincent and Naith meet him on good terms, at first, but the true colors
will eventually bleed through.
Born during a time of great racist rulings, one was surprised to see
William, a wolf born in the high class of society, befriend a lovely
piglet Abagail from the slums. Since there are two, here are
their lives strung together:
William was born fifth in a family of wolves. They were among
the
higher middle class, and because of his class, he immediately found
himself in the highest of education programs. Not that it
mattered; as long as the king was in power, his family would remain
affluent and quite powerful in the kingdom of Gastria. He was
not
at all content about the idea of racism, though, one of the most
prevelant concepts in the present ruler's society. On a trip
to
the market with his family, he encountered Abagail, a kind, naive child
born from a very secluded fellow by the name Ceros. They
quickly
became friends, despite William's family opposing the relationship.
After William's fifteenth birthday, his parents moved off to
an
adjacent village, but William chose to stay with a friend and remain an
advocate for the pigs' rights. Once Ceros came into power,
William's role was moot, and his belongings suddenly became that of the
new king. The unfortunate rule began, and William, fearing
for
the pig's guards to remove him from the picture, ran off to form a
resistance in the slums, the very place the pigs had once called home.
Abagail was the only born child to Ceros. She did not know
her
mother long. She was removed by the king after she tried to
remove him from the throne. Ceros was not the nicest father
to
Abagail, but she lived on as best she could. Her education
was minimal, but she obtained a lot of helpful information from her
friend William. The two found themselves becoming more
emotionally attached when her father took over. She was a princess now,
but she was afraid of what her father was willing to do with the power
he had received. She overheard one of her father's cronies
suggest marrying her off to him and prepare to continue the bloodline
early, but before Ceros could consider, Abagail ran away to the slums
to find William. Ceros sent a few teams of guards to find
her, but they came back empty handed. Ceros's loss of his
daughter to the slums coupled with his already mad antics as king threw
him over the edge, and the kingdom was never the same since.
Abagail now carries the first children between herself and William.
She is an advocate for equal rights, but she remains in the
slums when William and the resistors go to protest.
