This is an orginal tag that was attached directly to the oil dip stick.
It served as a reminder of the date, weight, mileage, etc. of the last oil change.
This particular tag was put out by AC.

This is one of many promotional items put out by various dearlerships and service stations.
This particular one comes from GROB CHEVROLET, Murphysboro, Il..
ERTL TRUCK
1910 MAC TRUCK
Ertl has a great idea.
That is to make models of collectible automobiles.
This particular model is a 1910 Mack Tanker with the famous "C" cab.
It is die-cast metal and made on a 1/32 scale.
It also functions as a bank and appeals to the Standard Red Crown collectors.

This is an orginal tube of grease.
It has a box, instruction/use paper, and a tube of grease.
This particular collectible has high appeal to the old hit-N-miss gas engines lovers.
Note the very early "lead" cap on the tube.

Several of the automotive related companies made items that were unrelated to the auto.
This example is an ice bag with the orginal box by the BF Goodrich Co..
SALT PEPPER
GAS PUMP SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS
This little tin service station is used to display our collection of salt and pepper shakers.
It makes a neat display. Individual shakers can be viewed under the appropriate service station.
Some are individually displayed on this page.
These shakers have become extremely desirable as a collectible. There are a few different varities of these pumps, i.e. Phillips 66 has two different shapes.

They are somewhat rare.

This particular display has a reference to a 1925 law on its top.

Finol by Standard has an interesting spout.
The Sears in the backgd. has a Ted Williams paper lable over the metal sears label.

This is an orginal map put out in 1934 by Pure Oil company.
These maps used to be given free to motorist.
This particular map is from the World's Fair in Chicago, Century of Progress.

Dated, 1937, this metal can is only 3" tall.
The Pyroil Oil Company was in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
It was founded by W. V. Kidder.
Because of its size and condition, it is highly collectible.

Almanac's were a very readable source of what people considered usable infomation.
Service stations were well aware of that fact, so they published such under their trade names.
This example is by Standard Oil Co..
It is in excellent condition for it's age.
As we in the collectin business always say, Condition, Condition, and Condition
are the top 3 reasons for determining value.

Many service stations tries to appeal to the adult population through their children.
They would produce give-a-ways for the kids but they always included plenty of advertising to get the attention of the adults.
Stan Standard was the name of the "character" in this comic by Standard Oil Co..
Pretty clever way to keep the STANDARD name in the forefront of the conversation, no?

STANDARD OIL PUNCH OUT GAME
This NOS game was a children's give-a-way.
They would punch out the figures and set up a Standard Station.
They would end up with a game of competition for up to 4 players.
Being NOS and nerver punched, makes this a desirable collectible.
The name of the Nebraska station giving this game is rubber stamped on the board.

This little green truck is an expample of another children's toy.
They have become quite collectible.
They really do not do much for me, so I use this one only as a example of automobilia.
I have very few in my collection.

WOLF'S HEAD OIL JAR
During the war, when metal was reserved for military use, automobiles still had to have oil.
The oil companies begin putting out their brands of oil in glass jars,
to show there support to the war efforts.
This example is from the Wolf's Head Oil Co..
Many of them had the name on the lid as well.
Of course, being glass, few have survived over the years and those that have are a nice collectible.

Whiz Tin
This is an orginal tin from the teens used to "paint" the tires of automobiles to make them "look Good".
In reality, tires of that time were really ugly because of the lack of roads.
Tires really took a beating as at this time
"four wheeling" was everywhere, not just "off road".
