Now I would like to tell you more about my pet parrots. Below will tell you more about them.
I have four pet parrots but one of them flew away just on the 10th October 2005. They are different species of parrots. One is aLovebird, another is a Budgie, a blue fronted Amazon and the last is an Afican Grey Congo. The Lovebird's name is Faith, Budgie Bluestar, Amazon Joy and Grey Jireh. It is Bluestar that flew away but we still keep the pictures of these four birds.

This is Jireh |
This is Joy |
Faith is my very own bird while Bluestar belongs to Sarah and Joy belongs to my mum and dad.
On Weekdays, my maid and I used to bring Faith and Bluestar down to wait for Sarah to come home from school. However, now that Bluestar has flown away and Faith has been given away, I can't bring down any small birds.
If you look carefully, you will notice Joy's beak is black but Bluestar and Faith's are yellow. For a Lovebird, a yellow beak represents an adult while a black one represents a baby. Bluestar's will never be black. Joy is still a baby.
Faith had been with us since 22nd May 2005 but Bluestar was 16th May 2005. They were already adults and at their largest size. We had a budgie George the day before Bluestar came but it died because it was weak. We also had a lovebird Minnie when George was there. When George died, we got another lovebird Max and budgie Bluestar. We had 3 birds that time. Then Minnie died the day after and on the same day in the afternoon Max died because we played with them too much. So the day after we bought Faith and Hope. Hope died of hunger 6 days later, which was Saturday. Then dad said we would not get anymore lovebirds. That was when Joy came into the story. Joy was purchased on 2nd July 2005 when he was three months old. When dad and mum said we were going to get the blue-fronted Amazon, I was very scared. What would Joy turn out to be? Would he bite very hard like Faith? Joy then bit me hard one day. It bled. However, he can be very cute even if I am near him. The strangest thing is, I can't even touch Joy after living with him for 2 years.
After that, Jireh came on Children's Day(1st October), when he was 2 months old. If Joy and Jireh live long enough, Jireh will be mine while Joy will be Sarah's.
Faith is very territorial and can bite very hard and it is painful even for adults. Bluestar's bite is sudden nip and seldom painful so it is alright for me. Even if Faith doesn't treat me like its owner, I still love him because he is just too cute. Now my hope is to train Faith well and live longer than the world record. It is said that the if you are a male and the lovebird is a female, it will like you more. Same for you a femaleand the lovebird male. If you are a male and the lovebird is a male, it will like you if you are the main owner. And Faith is a MALE!
Congos are one person birds, meaning that whoever takes care of it, it will be friendly to that person. But there's another type of African Grey called the Timneh. They are not one person birds but are very hard to breed. They also have darker colours so most people don't like them but my family likes them. We have been trying to find a Timneh but couldn't get one because Timneh weren't as popular as the Congos. So in the end we got landed with Jireh but he is very very cute. It is very hard to make an African Grey talk outside because they just talk less outside and they are very nervous or shy. The odd thing is, Amazons are said to be very proud and like to talk in front of strangers but he just won't talk, even when we feed him his favourite sunflower seed. Jireh, on the other hand, can't stop talking when any stranger is about and he does not have a favouite food. On the 9th January, Our new Timneh arrived by the name of shalom.(charlome). I will teach you more about him on his page.
If you ask "WHY don't the birds FLY away?" The answer is we clip their wings , sort of cutting the underside of the wings called thier primary feathers which help them fly.
Joy and Jireh may live 60 to 80 years if they stay healthy enough. Faith can live up to 15 years while Bluestar could have lived up to 5 . A big pity..........
Sad news.On one Friday,Shalom died because he strangled himself in the cable tie and on November 26th,Faith was given away,so now 2 birds are left.
I will end here but if you want to learn more about Bluestar, go to Sarah Ng's page.
