Chief Warrant Officer Three Edmonson, a native of Seattle, WA, graduated
from Shoreline High School in June of 1975. After graduation, CWO3 Edmonson went on to Western
Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, receiving his Bachelor of Music Degree in Music
Education and Conducting in 1979 and his Master of Music Degree in Music Education in 1983. During
and after this time, CWO3 Edmonson taught elementary through high school level orchestra, band, and
choir. After completing recruit training in San Diego, CA in December of 1986, Private First Class
Edmonson was assigned to the Armed Forces School of Music in Little Creek, VA, where he completed
the Basic Course of Music in May of 1987.
Lance Corporal Edmonson began his first tour of duty in June of 1987 as a
saxophonist, performing with the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band at Marine Corps Air Station El
Toro, CA. After re-enlisting in 1991, Corporal Edmonson was transferred to the Marine Corps Air
Ground Combat Center Band in Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, and was appointed the Woodwind Section Leader,
Concert Master, and Assistant Enlisted Band Leader. In June of 1994, Sergeant Edmonson returned to
the Armed Forces School of Music for the Enlisted Band Leader Course. Upon graduation, he was
transferred to the 2nd Marine Division Band at Camp Lejeune, NC, where he served as Woodwind Section
Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and Assistant Enlisted Band Leader. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in
May of 1996. On January 21, 1997, Staff Sergeant Edmonson was promoted to Warrant Officer and transferred
to the Basic School in Quantico, VA, for the Warrant Officer Basic Course. After graduating from the
Basic Course in May of 1997, he then was transferred to Parris Island, SC, where he served as the
Band Officer for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Band.
CWO3 Edmonson was promoted to his present rank on January
1, 2002, and is
currently serving as the Band Officer for the 1st Marine Division Band in Camp Pendleton, CA.
His personal awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal with
two bronze stars, and the National Defense Service Medal.
