Joe's Asian Pages
Even in the United States, the Asians could just be called the "forgotten minority". Since most Asians in this country are educated and successful, they don't seem to attract the attention that other "oppressed" minorities do. Until the marriage of my sister gained me some Asian relatives, I was guilty of this myself, but have since come to have a great admiration for the history and culture of the Far East. I find especially remarkable (being something of a reactionary) the longevity, stability and traditional respect for the sacred in "Eternal Asia", though much of this was lost in modern times, starting more or less with the Wuchan uprising in China. Asia once led the world in learning, science and good government, yet today most people in Asia live in fear and oppression. It is unfortunate that so many in the West ignore the fact that, while the Iron Curtain may have fallen in the West, the Bamboo Curtain in the East is still standing firm.
