Songs About Love

These are songs that are (1) stories about love, not love songs, or (2) songs about love that don't fit in any other category.  This is the most varied page I have, and it contains some of my best songs.

Always Never - A sweet pop/rock song that I wrote for a certain someone.  I didn't like it very much when I read it after I wrote it, but I got very good feedback about it, so I suppose it's decent.

Amber
- The first song on my CD, a simple ballad, one of my best songs.  The first line is a play off Matchbox Twenty's Kody...but the song rocks.

Amber Pt. 2 - The follow-up in the story of Amber.  In my opinion, not as good...but as the last track on my CD, it got good feedback too.  I used the same basic rythm and line form.

Discard You - A rap/talk one of mine that cuts deep to my bones.  I love the lyrics to this song.  Read, and then read again and try to understand more.

Electric - Another rap/talk song!  This one flows perfectly, probably my best rap/talk effort yet.  A funny story - when I wrote this song, I showed it to multiple girls, and changed a few of the lyrics each time, so they wouldn't think it wasn't (or it was) about them.  Wasn't I an idiot?

Eve (The Garden) - A story about a girl who is just so pretty, that she has so much power over boys...telling her to watch out and use her power wisely.

First - More of a straight-out love song, but I wrote it about general love too, so here it stays.

Flow - An odd poem/song that contributed lyrics to the new version of Sparkle.

Hidden - I wrote this at a time when I was confused about love, and what to do about the different things I was feeling.  An odd song with some deep lines.

Hole In Your Bed
- Is this song depressing, or a love song?  Answer me that.

Longdistance Phonecalls - About the period when I was falling in love with my girlfriend.

Lovebirds - A little metaphor about being in love that I think I did well on.

Love Ballad - Just what it says in the title - a very long ballad about love, and the different feelings one notices while under the spells.  I wrote it a long time ago, and it's not my best, but it's unique (plus I even added "instrumental" in one place).

Many Things - I originally liked this song a lot, but could never settle on a good bridge.  It's a decent pop/rock song about being in love.

Messing With My Head - About losing innocence.  A punkish song.

Murder - Definitely one of my best poems/songs ever, lyrically.  I value the lyrics so much that I wrote chords for the song, but don't sing it; instead, I say it as a poem while playing.  The song is not meant to be morbid - ever heard of a metaphor?  These are very strong feelings that I think are portrayed very well.  One of my must-reads.

Now I Know - A song I jotted down while on the computer.  Not my best.

Out Of The Water - Critically acclaimed by some as my best song (I highly doubt it), this song has an interesting Bible-related chorus.  However, the music I made was not good enough to give it a place on my CD.  A pop/rock song about being scared about the future while in love.

Outside - A very serious poem/song about mistakes that bring two people closer together.

Quiet Lies - Also in my Friendship Songs, this song is one of my favorite musically.  It tells of a friend who is corrupted by the influence of someone you know is wrong for her, but who she is bewitched by.

Sail Away - An attempt at a ballad that failed.  Still, a pretty song about love.

She Said - A song about two people in love that are far apart, written for a cousin of mine...which one?

Straight From The Heart - And the award for corniest song goes to: this song.  A pop-y, slightly annoying effort about living "straight from the heart".

Sweet And Sour People - A song about bad relationships: the boy wants sex, the girl wants a "true love" and "marriage".  Both are false hopes.

The Dream - Live is a dream that one would like to sleep with one's whole life.

The Hunt - About a very nice boy I know who has a bad opinion of how girls see him and can't seem to find the right person.  A decent, flowing song.

The Steps You'll Take - An attempt at writing a song similar to Dave Matthews Band's The Space Between.  It turned out to be a very good song in its own right.  The song is about going to far to find love...trying to hard, instead of just letting it come to you.

When Winter's Over
- A sweet, decent song encouraging during hard times.

Wonderful In My Eyes
- A song I wrote long ago with a good chorus, that one person I know loves in particular.

You And Me - This song is more personal than most.  It's about the beginnings of a relationship I am still in.  A beautiful song in some ways; I tried to be in the same vein as Train's Drops Of Jupiter.

Your Very Own Baby
- One of the songs I dislike the most on my site.  A pop/rock attempt at a song about love.

Aurora - A poem/song that I enjoyed writing...with a nice tune.  But you can't hear that.  So just read it.

Light A Candle - I thought this one was better than it is while I was writing it...but it turned okay.  About looking for love.

Lime Green - A VERY solid, but oddly-structured song about a relationship.

Oceans - This is a very long poem, the first in a series of three (the second is Sand And Sunlight).  They are about the stages of relationships...this deals with first love, flirting, and the beginning of a relationship.

Playing At Charades - One of the best songs recently.  Probably one of my Top 10 of all time.  I just wrote music for it...it's a poprock song that catches just what a poprock song should be.

Ripples - An interesting poem/song.  Try it out.

Sand And Sunlight - The second in the series about a relationship, this one deals with the bliss of the first few years of a relationship.

This Bastard Known As Love - Another poem sprung from a "word challenge".  A quite odd one, and it is NOT my view on love.  But interesting!
