VXIS Video Converter
is the first conceptual proposal in a series of designs for VXIS Technologies Corp in Taiwan for their first commercialized TV-computer video converter. The concept is derived from the shape of the flying squirrel, which expands its four legs in the sky when flying. On the flying-squirrel-inspired form, the head becomes the area for front panel and visual interface, while the other three sides become the interconnection area for the connectors and cables.

Customer also requests a larger volume in the product housing to accommadate more components for the advanced version of their converters. As the flying squirrel metahor is exemplified in this concept, the elegant curve-linear surfaces are thus embedded to infuse a high end and forward-looking product image. On the other hand, the internal volume inside the case is increased and the details of the case, e.g. parting lines and draft angles are carefully designed, to ensure its manufactureability. The engineering details, such as ventilation and electro-magnetic interference, are also developed in this design.
