In the California and Arizona initiatives for marijuana legalization it doesn’t limit the drug use to certain people it was too broad. The Arizona initiative had crack cocaine and heroin and also PCP, LSD, plus met amphetamines available to the public after it would get passed. That’s ridiculous that it would have hard drugs in the same line as marijuana, there’s no benefit from using PCP or any other of those drugs. The California prop 215 doesn’t have an age limit and requires no examination. It is also way to broad, the ballot was so poorly drafted that after it was passed it became impossible to regulate or enforce any laws against marijuana abuse. So why wouldn’t a law with all the components that these lack get put into affect. If there were a law that got passed that made marijuana in certain cases legal to poses it would benefit the masses. I’m not saying to legalize it in the whole, but in the certain cases that it needs to be. As a result it would be illegal for me to have it but it would legal for my friends father and others to carry it. One way to make sure that it gets to hands that it is needed is to have examines giving by doctors that look to see if the patient needs and can qualify for the drug. Make it like any other drug that requires a prescription. Some medicines require multiply doctor prescribed papers to receive the drug. If it is given in a dosage to them and they have it for a month they will be more likely to be happy with the fact that they don’t have to be at risk from trying to buy it on the streets. Plus the fact is that they won’t want to sell it because it would be all they have for that month. If they smoke it all in one day, its to bad they will learn to ration it out threw out the month. If they were given about two grams a month that would be enough to have affect and still not become an abuser of the drug. These people don’t want to become potheads nor do they wont to be in pain, they would like to simply have medicine available to them. There are 9-11,000 deaths due to alcohol a year and none due to marijuana (Medical Marijuana Referenda Movement in America, hearing before congress). The Drug Abuse Council favors the decriminalization of marijuana (Medical Marijuana Referenda Movement in America, hearing before congress). So why hasn’t anything been done to help sway this social movement? The drug marijuana remains a schedule 1 drug under the provisions of the Controlled Substance act, Title 2 of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970. Thirty years ago we might not of know all the attributes to marijuana use and by today we have to know more. So why is it that the drug remains behind a closed door only for the people who need it to be banging on? When will that door be opened for the true people in need?
