| Mike Conlin Prof. Feller If you had the power to make even one man happy
would you do it? I hope you would because I know I certainly would. My
friend's father is a diabetic; he has been one for as long as I have known
him. He is a type one diabetic, which is the worst kind to be. He has
to check every hour what the level of his sugar is so he doesn't get sick.
Because of the way he has to live his life he cannot work, or be in cars
for long periods of time, and cannot do most of the normal activities
that most other parents get to do. The side affects for the medication
that he is on are lost of sleep, lack of hunger, and sever mode swings.
Now being that he has to constantly be aware of his sugar level a lack
of hunger can really be a burden on him, and since he cannot get has much
sleep that he needs it throws his all routine off cause he doesn't have
the energy to go about his day. The mode swings that I speak of are from
years of feeling horrible, image that you couldn't work or drive to see
your son or really do much of anything. It has a very negative affect
on the way he feels about himself. He has tried other drugs such as Marinol
; this made him very nauseas as it does with most who use it. The feeling
that he got from it was one of discomfort and didn't compare with the
real drug. There are not many alternatives to marijuana besides Marinol.
Other synthetic forms of THC cause the same discomfort and feeling when
taking. They come in pill form which cause irritation in the stomach;
but when smoked the discomfort is not there and the drug helps him to
cope with his pain. He is not along with this thousands of people have
a disease that takes over and controls their life and changes it for good.
I feel for him I really do because its not his fault that he got it and
there's nothing that he can do to stop or prevent it the only option that
he has to fell normal again and gain some of his composure back is threw
marijuana. With smoking marijuana he gets an appetite and gets tried.
Both of these are extremely good for him. Since he wants to eat after
coming down from the high he can control and check his sugar and it doesn't
fell like he has to force himself to eat. The sleep that he gains from
coming down is spectacular in the fact that he barely sleeps ever and
after smoking he is out like a light. Marijuana also helps in the way
it makes him feel about himself. It has so many positive affects for him.
It changes the feeling of apathy to a feeling of happiness, which is so
important to a man when he is down on his last leg. |
