He joined at the begining of series 11. During series 11 and 12 he is living with his boyfriend Paul. During series 12 he finds out that Paul was seing a girl behind his back, so they split up and Sam moves in with his friend Sunny.

In series 13 he became good friends with bed manager Adam. Adam confided in San that he was gay and HIV. Sam had a short relansionship shortly after with Agency Nurse Le. This lasted untill Sam found out that Lee was stealing drugs from the A&E department. Sam wanted to report Lee, but he couldn't as Lee was threating to tell everyone that Adam was HIV. So eventually Lee just walked out of the hospital.

At the end of series 13, Sam was pushed from the top of the balcany, while trying to protect Adam from voilent patient. He was uncocious after the fall, and even though he recovered, he decided that he didn't want to be an A&E Nurse any more.
