"Success in witness is taking the initiative to share Christ…with the power of the Holy Spirit…and bringing the results to God…” those were the words came out that brought us together on the summer of 1994. A training session conducted in the school by the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Our first sight of what we never dream of to be life-long commitment… It was an afternoon of evangelistic training we’re we had few friends which we got the chance to be group as prayer partners. He seemed to me as just a nice, fun-loving person yet enormously obnoxious in all manners. Which I told myself, “he’s too loud, better not to stick around in tambayan especially during review for final exams…” School semesters passed by and our encounters are basically just a simple “hi’s” and “hello’s” and occasionally when you’re in a mood for some giggle you just come up to him and the next thing you will find yourself laughing in some unstoppable cracks of hilarious stories. And to me, I think that’s that…
Our love story started with a anonymous letter. One came in from the other, just kept on popping up like mushrooms in our logbook. Which I thought was pretty pathetic. And after about four months of mysteriously hiding, he finally came out from his shell--looking like wet chicken! Quite frankly, it was a mixture of excitement and disappointment. Excitement? Of course, think all those thrilling times that I got to suspect one guy from the other…and trying to use all my investigative powers to pin down the culprit—twas kinda amusing. And disappointed because it was just him…yup! just him alright…an ordinary guy just under my nose!
And so, he courted formally for the next 10 months (good riddance) along with all these dating schemes that he bravely asked my Dad to take me out with a tick-tocking clock. Hmm…pogi points on the way…, which means this guy, is sincere. Eventually, courtship to us was sure fun and became more exploring ground for discovery and learning. For months of praying on December 29, 1996, the long-awaited big YES was rewarded. And even though, the commitment was new we found that the three more months of in battling the graduation requirements and exercises were most important of all. Yes, we managed to remain patient and open the communication lines on top of our sleepless nights. Since there were not mobile phones or even pager at that time, we just write each other through ordinary mail. Oh yes..as in airmail! Funny, though we were in the same university yet we never got to see each other at certain times for a month due to the demanding requirements of the graduating class. But we then challenged ourselves to see each other march down the aisle and get that diploma! Yes! No more teachers, no more books. No more teachers dirty looks...yahoo! And at the end of it all…we looked at each other beaming with joy…”hey, we’ve got two best great things that has happened my degree and you…for now, that’s all that matters!”
