The Kolapore trails continue to be hit with increasing insurance costs. For 2007 – 2008 the Kolapore Trails Committee has contributed $5000 towards the insurance coverage that we carry in conjunction with the University of Toronto Outing Club. This is a further increase from previous years, and we will only be able to sustain this expenditure (which is essential to the continuation of the trails) if there is a significant increase in donations.

We need your financial support if the trails are to survive. Please consider mailing a donation, payable to the “Kolapore Ski Trails” to:

Volunteers Needed

We are looking for new volunteers, both for trail maintenance and for organizational tasks. If you would like to be added to our volunteer e-mail list (or if your e-mail address has changed), send an e-mail to trails at kolaporeuplands.org.We use this list a few times each year to provide information on planned trail projects. Information on our work days will also be posted on this website. We have some tasks (in particular updating the paint blazes) that can be done at your convenience. The Trails Committee also needs new volunteers to assist with the many organizational tasks involved in operating the trails. As a specific example, we need someone to maintain an inventory of signs, and organize the production and installation of signs as necessary.

For several years we have identified the need to rebuild the bridge over Kolapore Creek on Paradise Highway. The project has been delayed by a requirement to have the bridge design certified by an engineer. We have finally obtained a certified plan, but it has not yet been approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources. It is expected that this work will take place in 2009.
