Mea Culpa (1x9) Server knowledge Jack prevents Agent Vaughn from blowing Sydneys cover. He is able to do this because of his knowledge of the communication system of SD-6, his knowledge of Sloan, and his ability to coerce Marshall into giving him the latest server communication lists. Who says the Baby Boomer generation is out of touch with the technological age?
Spirit (1x10) Observation Skills Jack notices Sydneys desk has been moved at SD-6ooh, thats not a good sign for our youngest Bristow family member. Using Connections SpyDaddy uses his connections to find out what SD-6 knows about Sydneys being a double agent without knowing this, he couldnt have acted to save Sydney using the digital feeds that Marshall intercepted. Hacking into SD-6s computer system to change data Jack changes the source of the digital transmission from Sydney to Russeks area of the operation and by changing the message content. This saves Sydney from the horrible confines of the Conversation room, but it also makes every fellow JBE proud! Special SpyDaddy Maneuver #1 We all knew Jack could defend himself when necessary, but in this scene he takes on 3 henchmen at once First, he uses a table to take down one guy. In the same action, he reaches for henchmen #2s gun and punches him out. Finally, he is ready to fight henchmen #3, but is stopped by another Hassan goon. The fact that Hassan sent out of his posse to get Jack is a form of respect, which is the only thing that saves Hassan from the immediate death penalty of the JBE. The Art of Negotiation Yeah, that dossier didnt lie; Jack knows how to negotiate. Even while being tied down in Hassans compound, he still manages to make a deal for Hassans client list. BTW Jack doesnt need lessons on the international arms trade You know what that means; hes already mastered that skill. Always nice to have a Renaissance man on a TV show!
The Confession (1x11) Morse code Yeah, you know you love this scene! Jack says Guard on your right just by using his eyes Morse code has never looked so cool! Action sequence with Jack & Sydney Jack manages to fatally shoot one guard, free himself of his bonds, and capture Hassan during the time it takes Sydney to take out the guard on her right. Arabic Jack knows, ahem, is fluent in Arabic. Hassan even tests him, but as always our Jack passes that test easily. Faking Hassans death Make-up skills brought to you by Maybelline Jacks death scene is convincing enough for Vindictive!Sloane, which means its good enough for anyone. If all else fails, its nice to know that Jack could make it as a Hollywood make-up artist. Radio Frequency Jammer used for the second time, in order to talk to Sydney. Negotiation Arts Jack surrounds himself with evidence before he tells Sydney that her mother was the KGB agent who betrayed the CIA agents 25 years ago. Jacks explanation would have been believed by the JBE without all the high-ranking CIA agents being there to verify the story, but its nice that he thinks of these things.
The Box 1x12 & 1x13 Driving Like a Madman Jacks frenzy to talk Sydney out of quitting SD-6 not only makes practical sense, but it also saves her from the random henchman that Cole leaves in the Credit Dauphine parking lot. Observation + Application of Security in SD-6 While in the elevator with Sydney, Jack realizes that Sloan must have activated the emergency lockdown procedure. Sure, the powering down of the entire system may have helped him determine this fact, but he also realizes that this means SD-6 has likely been infiltrated by a hostile organization. Knowledge of SD-6 Security Jack definitely has Sloans trust. He knows where the location of the C-4 explosives and he has committed it to memory enough draw a map for Sydney. Another instance of the Bristows use of photographic memory! Spy Skill #47 (Demonstrating Suave & Sophistication while in Potentially Fatal Situations) Jack demonstrates this technique superbly when he buttons his suit jacket with one hand, while training his gun straight ahead of him with the other. Splicing Securing Camera Wire Spydaddy wastes no time in splicing the camera wires of SD-6. This valuable action allows Sydney and Jack to see what is going on in all the other rooms of SD-6 and determine what course of action they should pursue next. Obviously Jack knows the first rule in being a good spy: information precedes action! Keeping Up to Date with Marshalls Gadgets Considering how many gadgets Marshall seems to invent each week, this is more difficult than it sounds. Spydaddys knowledge is imperative, since Sydney needs a code scrambler to buy her time to disarm the 500 pounds of C-4 explosives that will detonate if Cole gets into the vaults of SD-6. Morse code - This time Jack relies on the fact that Marshalls technically savvy brain will notice and decode the Morse code Jack transmits through the power signal of the SD-6 security cameras. This is important since Marshall & Dixon have to distract the ColeHenchmen from noticing Sydneys reconnaissance efforts in Marshalls office. Deactivating the Failsafe Hmmm Jack takes Sloans right index finger-print and manually enters the codes which deactivate the failsafe. Its a good thing too, because otherwise everyone would have died when Cole gained access to the SD-6 vaults.
