THE PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO BAN SMOKING
Ordinarily, I use this space to rant about sports but, for now, I want to talk about something that REALLY pisses me off and that is the City Council's effort to ban smoking in all public facilities in Abilene. Yes, I am a smoker but that isn't why I'm so vehemently opposed to it...my gripe is that it will seriously affect a great many businesses in the city, most especially the night clubs, bars and taverns of which we have too few already! Call me crazy but when you go to a night club or bar don't you EXPECT to be subjected to smoke? I am telling you that this is going to hurt not only the clubs but restaurants as well, so if you feel as I do then I am urging you to call, email or VISIT your city councilman, attend the Council meetings and MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!
Do NOT let The City Council railroad this law onto the books and turn smoking into a CRIMINAL ACT!
