| Oklahoma State at Nebraska: Final Score: Nebraska, 17-7 CFN: Nebraska, 27-20 6.8 points Harmon: Nebraska, 21-19 6.0 points Joe: Nebraska, 27-24 5.2 points Hum-dinger. Slim-slam. Rowengartner. What do these all have in common? They are noises that signify the passing of the torch. The dropped passing of the torch, that is. Nebraska is not likely to have a year like 2002 again any time soon. Oklahoma State....they lost 4 of their first 6 last year. I'm not going to tell you who the 2 wins are against, out of respect for the Cowboys. There is some major talent on this offense, including the unfairly underappreciated Rashaun Woods, but they just won't be able to handle Nebraska's D the way that Nebraska will handle the Cowboy D. I don't think the state of Nebraska thought the whole "pink shirt" thing was funny, and I would imagine the Huskers try to injure anyone (maybe even one of their players or a fan or something) to get back the black. This is the second best game of the week. Phil: Oklahoma State, 28-14 -4.0 points A team gaining media momentum against a team who keeps sliding further away from all those glory years. Frank Solich = Bob Davie. Oklahoma State is clearly the better team, and they'll overcome a tough conference opener in such hostile territory. Fields, Bell and Woods will make the blackshirts look more like a shade of gray. Kris: Nebraska, 27-23 5.6 points Everyone is down on the Big Red machine. People tend to forget they played for the national title in January of 2002. Obviously they had a terrible final two games that year by somehow forgetting how to play defense but it isnt like theres no talent there. Oklahoma State is really on peoples radar this year and with Rashaun Woods theres plenty reason to love the Cowboys. This is a biased pick for me, I look at the situation and believe there has to be order in this wacky college football world. That order was Nebraska kills Oklahoma State. I cant logically pick a blowout but since I think Nebraska will bounce back this is the game they need to do it in. So in a nail bitter Cornhuskers 27 23. Colorado at Colorado State: Final Score: Colorado, 42-35 CFN: Colorado State, 27-17 -3.4 points Harmon: Colorado, 24-12 4.4 points Joe: Colorado, 35-21 5.8 points Is there a better example of a little guy who likes to pick on big guys? Colorado State is feisty. Unfortunately, I think that Colorado will be a very solid team. A very solid team with revenge on its mind. This, my boy, is the year Colorado doesn't forget that it's not retarded in the beginning. Look for Purify to go buckwild on the Rams' D. Phil: Colorado State, 30-21 -2.4 points My heart always wants to pick the Rams in this game, but my mind says Buffs. Those who follow the series know my heart is winning this battle lately. Colorado is a notoriously slow-starting team. (Hmm...reminds me of a school I attend...) I would say I'm following my heart with this pick, but even my mind sides with CSU this year. QB Bradlee Van Pelt is one tough hombre, and with a lot of returning starters, Colorado State should find themselves winning in a surprisingly comfortable fashion over a Colorado team that has a fair share of question marks. One tip, Rams: Don't let Jeremy Bloom keep the Buffaloes in the game like he did last year. What an athlete that kid is. Kris: Colorado State, 19-14 -3.0 points I seem to recall Colorado State beating the Buffs at home last year in this game. I think Ill predict a repeat of said occurrence. Colorado State will take it with the home field advantage and the Buffs struggles to find a quarterback to compliment those raodgraders Gary Barnett calls an offensive line. Umm how bout 19 14 , Rams win. Wisconsin at West Virginia: Final Score: Wisconsin, 24-17 CFN: Wisconsin, 31-21 8.0 points Harmon: West Virginia, 19-12 -0.2 points Joe: Wisconsin, 28-24 8.0 points Wisconsin is gonna be a bad mamma-jamma this year. West Virginia has an explosive backfield, but Wisconsin always has that line. Anthony Davis will go for 100 on this day. One more incoherent thought oughta do it. Mountaneers are gay. Badgers are viscious. Wisconsin wins a close one. Phil: West Virginia, 17-13 0.9 points Shh. Listen. Whispers about Wisconsin. Some folks say the big U of Dairy State could win the Big 10 this year, and some even have them listed as a national title dark horse. Big 10 title, maybe. National championship? Not if you're going to lose to the Mountaineers in rowdy Morgantown, which they will. WVU will get the best of the Badgers in a low-scoring affair, with the running attack of Quincy Wilson and Kay Jay Harris providing the spark, not to mention the abilities of Pittsburgh-product QB Rasheed Marshall. Early upset here. Kris: Wisconsin, 30-24 8.4 points Hmm, Im not terribly great at this witty 4 sentence game picking thing. I think its the research that bores me. I mean you have to spend 10 minutes looking up information to spend a minute writing this here little blurb. This game will be a signal to Ohio State and Michigan to watch out for ole Barry up in Madison this year. West Virginia is no slouch but they just wont be able to pull this one out. Woodland Creatures beat the Hikers by 30 24. continue |
