Chapter 4
“Ah…” yelled Yumi.
“Don’t worry it is just me!” Said Tooya
“You scared me half to death! Don’t ever do that again! Maybe Okasan has gone out to get extra flashlights? I should come back later. This place is creeping me out already.” Said Yumi, ironically she referred to her home as “this place”, like if it were a strange haunted house.
“Yumi…”
“Yes?” said Yumi looking at Tooya
“What? I didn't call you." Answered Tooya
“Yumi…”
“Okasan?” Yumi ran towards the faint voice to the kitchen where she saw her mother drenched in blood.
“Oh my god! Okasan…what happened?” yelled Yumi bursting into tears.
"Yumi? is that you? Your hair..."
"Oh Okasan! It is a long story, who did this?"
“Some men…I thought it was you and opened the door…they came in…I tried to stop them! No use...they pushed me…kicked me…hit me right across the head…unconscious…woke up…heard your voice! Your voice…” said Ms. Kinomoto trying to make out every word as clearly as possible.
“It must be Kagami's men!” screamed Yumi with hatred burning in her eyes.
“Yumi, we have to get out of here quick. Something smells funny in here.” Said Tooya.
Yumi takes her attention off her mother, and finally smells it too. The gas in the kitchen is leaking!
“Yumi lets take your mother with us out the house immediately!” said Tooya reacting fast.
Yumi and Tooya pulled Ms. Kinomoto out the kitchen and going for the door.
The door slammed shut and in walked Wei and Assam.
“We've be waiting for you. I thought we should let you two live a little longer! By the way, do you guys smell that gas? I’m sure you do…just a shot from my gun here, this house will explode effectively!” said Wei laughing at Yumi and Tooya with pity.
“And don’t think we don’t dare!” added Assam.
“No, I don't think you WILL dare to. This is also not the right time to do this, and I have no time to waste.” Said Tooya coldly.
“You’re wrong, you have no time left anyway! Where is your sword Tooya? Take it out and let’s have a descent fight."
“The sword is with Aya, and without a sword I can still make you regret for picking a fight with me now!” said Tooya in fast action, running in lightening speed punched Wei right in the stomach. Wei didn’t even have time to react to it. Wei whipped out his chains and wrapped it around Tooya’s left arm pulling him to the ground. Tooya in an another kick action got up and pulled the whip from Wei’s hands and lashed it back at him right across the chest. Wei backed a little trying to maintain a winning position, then he charge forward at Tooya trying to make a surprise punch at him; however, he is kicked across the room by Tooya before he even got close enough to him. The fight ended in a couple of minutes, victory on Tooya’s side. Assam knelt beside Wei whispering in Wei’s ears and they both got up.
'He even gave her his weapon. He left his life with Aya then. Without weapons, that is totally putting his own life on the line! They must really love eachother. Yumi! What are you thinking? Since when are you so jealous. Jealous, I am jealous? I must stop this at once! This is not a time for your own needs Yumi!' repeated Yumi to herself in her head.
“You win this time Tooya, but I’ll win next time!” yelled Wei getting up opening the door.
“You will pay for betraying us!” said Assam with an icy tone, and they left slamming the door behind them.
"That was dangerous...are you alright?" asked Yumi.
“Yes I'm fine. Get going, we must get your mother out of here.” said Tooya looking directly into Yumi's eyes with concern.
“Tooya…thank you. Um, anyways I will be more useful now since the injection they gave me seem to be wearing off. Maybe I'll turn back to normal soon. This long hair is really bugging me!” Said Yumi changing the subject right after thanking Tooya. She didn't want to give him any wrong ideas of pressure. There is nothing more he needed to do for her.
Tooya smiled at her kindly. “No problem, come on, let’s get your mom out of here, this is still an explosive house you know? And we should get out of here before those two guys change their minds...” said Tooya pointing at the door where just a minute ago was exited by Wei and Assam. Tooya was interupted by a voice outside the house.
“Tooya, you will die with this house. So after all, I did WIN!” said Wei laughing pointing his gun at one of the house’s front windows like a maniac.
“I knew it! Yumi, fasten up…quick! Does this house have a back door?”
“Y…yes! I’ll lead the way…Okasan…hang in there!”
They ran to the back door, however, the door is old and wouldn't budge.
“It’s stuck!” said Yumi nervously.
“Stand back!” said Tooya as he kicked the door open with one swift motion. Wei's voice came from the front of the house again.
“Good bye Tooya!” yelled Wei and pushed the trigger on his gun.
“Yumi get down!” yelled Tooya as he jumped out the back door holding Yumi tightly against his chest.
“Yaaaaaa!” Yelled Yumi as she hit the floor with Tooya.
“OKASAN! OKASAN! Tooya, Okasan is still in there!” screamed Yumi as she sees the burning figure some distance away from the back door.
“Yumi…” said Ms. Kinomoto over and over again until the flames took control of the sounds. Ms. Kinomoto's voice can no longer be heard, and the only sound was the burning of the house as each part collapsed.
All Yumi could do was stand outside watching her own mother burn, and the smoke rising up; making a bright snake trail in the dawning sky. ‘Let this smoke trail up into heaven, and may peace be upon you, Okasan.’ Yumi said the last words inside her mind and turned to look at Tooya who was looking at her with those beautiful concerned eyes.
“TOOYA! Okasan is dead! Dead!” cried Yumi, as she locked her arms around Tooya’s neck, crying in to his chest.
‘I curse the Mikage family…and this day’s black fate is only making my hatred grow. Vengeance lay thick in the air, and I will not rest until I get my revenge.’ Repeated Yumi in her head as she seeked the most comfort from Tooya's strong chest.
