| Home | Cruel and Unusual Geography Your class will be taken by Rincewind the Wizzard. Cruel and Unusual Geography is the study of the plant and animal life on the Disc. At the end of this course you are expected to know about many of the Discs varied cultures. Lesson 2: Uberwald Country or rather a land before a country is settled. There is no monarchy or other "leaders" such as polititions; there are no laws and no-one to follow them. The inhabitants of Uberwald are varied: Werewolves: Tend to live in clans. Spend lots of time hunting. You can easily tell whether a castle belongs to a werewolf family: the doggy flap is a dead give away, also their furniture, cultulry and other items are completely unused. Werewolves prefere a bed by the fire and bowls on the floor. Vampires: Blood sucking undead. Beware at all costs. Vampires are cleaver and crafty; they can read your mind and control the weather. They are also unbelieveably stupid and completely traditional. A vampire would never dream of not wearing evening wear. If there's a thunderstorm (as there most undoubtingly will be) DO NOT TAKE SHELTER IN THE CASTLE. If you really, really must enter the castle remember: a vampire will always leave out pieces of garlic and bowls of holy water; thats all part of the game. Dwarfs: Uberwaldien dwarfs are much more traditional that those from Copperhead. Some never even come up from their underground mines. Although dwarfs refer to chief mining engineers as "kings", within Uberwald their true king or the Low King dwells. He is choosen periodically be other senior dwarfs. He reigns on the Scone of Stone. This is though to be thousands of years old ( this is just a myth) In Uberwald the dwarfs mine ores or fat. The fat is though to have come from the Legendery 5th Elephant, which fell thousand of years ago leaving rich deposits of fat.
