| Home | Cruel and Unusual Geography Your class will be taken by Rincewind the Wizzard. Cruel and Unusual Geography is the study of the plant and animal life on the Disc. At the end of this course you are expected to know about many of the Discs varied cultures. Lesson 1: Closer to Home Ankh-Morpork - Ankh Morpork, home of this great university is sat upon the river Ankh. It a twin city. On one side of the river you can find Ankh - rich, prosperous and noble; on the other Morpork - filthy, cheating and immoral. The population of Ankh-Morpork is thought to be around 1 million, the largest city of the Disc. The oldest city on the Disc is the Tower of Art. Originally the University was at the centre of the city. The city spread towards the Circle Sea as docks were being built. Today Anhk-Morpork is the centre of commerce on the Disc. It's main exports are: manufactored goods, processed animal and vegetable goods, banking, assassination, wizardry. There are various different races dwelling in Ankh-Morpork. These will be discussed in greater detail further into the course. These species include: Troll, Dwarf, Human, Golem, Undead and anything inbetween. The Law system in Ankh-Morpork is haphazard. The Watch is growing steadily but up until 5 years ago was no exsistant. Guilds inforce there own rules and have their own courts and punishments. Criminals can be tried under the Patricians court if they are caught by the watch. In this case the Patricia decides their punishment. Next ----> (Lesson 2) |
