A
Stunning Historic Country House...
A lovely sunny afteroon brought us on a drive down to Emo,
a tiny little villiage not far from Portlaoise. It was an
absolutely gorgeous day, especially for Spring in Ireland.
A
long narrow tree lined road led us to the grounds and gardens
of the fantastically architectural building that was designed
by James Gandon, the same talented guy who designed the Four
Courts and the Customs House in Dublin. It was one of the
few houses he designed outside of Dublin City itself.
Liam at Emo Court
The interior of Emo Court is absolutely unexplainably gorgeous!
Unfortunately I was not allowed to take photographs of the
wonderfully handcrafted bits and bobs which really is a shame
because I'd have loved to show you all how splendourous it
really is.

The
Old Mill
On
the way back to Portlaoise, Liam decided he'd see if he could
find an old mill that he came across when he got lost going
to Dublin one day. He'd intended to avoid the traffic, but
took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up here. It took him
a good half hour or so to find it again, but we enjoyed the
little drive in the countryside anyway.
There's
actually people living in this place, which I think is really
cool. The Mill doesn't work anymore though. There's also a
gorgeous little river which flows under a bridge. Oh how I
love these cute little guys!

Robertstown
- Talk About Quaint
This gorgeously tiny little riverside town was discovered
by Liam on his way back from The Mill. He loves this place,
it's pretty quaint I tell ya! We were hungry by then and there
was absolutely nowhere to have something to eat, only a little
corner store but there was nothing we fancied, so we waited
until we got back to Portlaoise.
We
dilly dallied around for a while, me taking a few snaps, and
feeling very tired we returned to the car for the drive home.
Tea was fish and chips from the little square close to home
in Portlaoise. Yum!
